Hey Guys,

I've been pretty much MIA for awhile because we've been moving-- husband to Boston and me to my parents.  And I've been trying to get tenants in our house.  Brinkley has finally adjusted to the new house for the most part and he's eating up the outside time now that he has a fenced in yard.

But why I'm writing today: Brinkley all of a sudden seems like he doesn't want to put pressure on his back legs. He won't sit on his hind legs for very long; he won't jump up on beds, sofas, etc, and I had to really convince him to come up the stairs. When I first called him up the stairs, he ran away with his tail between his legs and went and laid downstairs.  After being downstairs by himself for ten minutes, he started to whimper-- I think because he was laying down by himself (he always wants to be where we are.) After inviting him up one more time, he finally came up but very gently.

He was at daycare for eight hours each Thursday and Friday-- this is abnormal for him to go two days in a row but my work schedule called for it last week-- and they play really rough there.  Then he played for twenty minutes with other dogs Saturday and Sunday. Then he ad I went on a mile walk today. Could it be just a pulled muscle? He doesn't react when I push, pull, etc.

I also gave him heartgard last night. Could it be a reaction? This was the first time he took the dose for over 50 lbs.

I'm leaning towards pulled/fatigued muscles because of all of his play time- I'm just curious why he doesn't react when I pull and push on it.

How is he this morning? I'm sure the vet will want to see him if no better. He may just need an anti- inflammatory, but won't know that till she checks him out I'm sure.

He was very stiff this morning-- he didn't want to go down the stairs so he camped out with my dad as I was leaving.  But then as I was defrosting my car, I looked over at the downstairs windown and there he sat, watching me.  So I guess if he HAS to move, he will. Vet appointment at 3 today.

I think its' a really good idea to check in with the Vet...there must be some reason that he's favoring those back legs.  Good luck and let us know what you find out.  Glad your Dad's with him.

Sounds like Brinkley is trying to tell you something:(  I am amazed at  how rough and tumble my doodle and our current foster doodle play.   It is amazing that there aren't any injuries with the way they interact together.

I am glad to hear Brinkley is adjusting to his new home and loves his fenced in yard.  I am sure it is not easy moving in with parents for a bit but I think my  mother would be over the moon if her granddoodle were to  move in with her.....me, not so:)

I hope Brinkley feels better soon!

I made an appointment with the vet for 3pm today.  Here's hoping it's just something little.  My poor doodle :(

Poor Brinkley indeed.  I am so glad you decided to take him to the Vet.   Big Hugs to you borh!

I just saw this. Poor Brinkley, i think you're doing the right thing taking him to the vet. I hope he's feeling better soon.

keep us updated, hopefully its nothing too serious. if you like your old vet id drive the 30 mins to see them.

Hopefully just a little soreness, but glad you are taking him to the Vet just to be sure.  We have had a few of these cases (and a little more serious one right now).  The Vet also has us this time putting warm blankets from the dryer on her to try and help the soreness.

Thanks!  I'll try that!

Hope Brinkley is ok poor doodle! Keep us posted.

Brinkley is doing much better today.  My Dad called me earlier to tell me that he's running up and down the stairs and jumping up on beds and sofas again.  The vet and I talked about it via telephone since he had such a radical change.  She told me to check in tomorrow-- she thinks he's just sore and tweaked a muscle since he played hard 4 days in a row.
