Can't seem to stop Brandy, our six month old Labradoodle from jumping up on counters etc

He is so long legged he can stand up on our counters and on the dinner table.

He understands "Down" but can't get that its a no-no.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

Dave

Dexter is naughty (and a food nut) and we've caught him with his paws up on the counters many times.  It's getting better with age, but we just watch him like a hawk whenever there's food and try to not give him opportunities to get into trouble.

To him anything is worth getting the food.  We tried scaring him, giving him a time-out, spraying an air can to scare him...nothing is enough of a deterant to stop him.

Good luck...luckily only one of our doodles does this!

Surfing is a new thing at our home.  Maggie (and Rosie before her) never surfed so I didn't know just what a problem this can be.  KoKo has begun doing this in the last few weeks, stealing anything she can get hold of.  She checks the counters, dining room table, coffee and end tables, everything.  I thought because she is a mini dood I wouldn't have to worry about surfing.  Not true.  That body of hers can really stretch.  I have removed everything within her reach but she always seems to find something I overlooked.  And she's quick...

I call her my little terror.  My experiences with Maggie and Rosie (half sisters) were quite different than with KoKo.  Like they say with children, if I got KoKo first there probably wouldn't have been a Maggie and Rosie.  But, she's so darn cute and lovable she makes up for all her mischief.

I have also used the half can of pennies (with tape over the top) to address a undesireable behavior (constant barking (20 minutes or more) at me to get my attention) that I couldn't seem to train her to stop (ignoring and "quiet" weren't working) .   Once caught in the act, I shook the can and she stopped immediately and was very startled/scared by the noise.   I only had to do it once or twice and now if she even sees the can of pennies - she knows and stops immediately - kind of like cats who are squirt bottle trained.  Pick up the bottle and they run.  Shelby's undesireable behavior has disappeared and not returned.   I suggest giving it a try!
