Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I was wondering if anyone else has a problem with their Australian Labradoodle getting car sick? She is very calm in the car and lies down but I still after 2 years have to give her gravol.

You feed your doodle gravol? I never thought of that...Parker is 1 and still gets sick in the car sometimes...it's not all the time, like every other time he is in the car and there is no formula for what causes it because he will be fine on a longer car trip and then throw up on a short one to the vet...Does the gravol help? The vet told me to give him an allergy pill but that doesn't do anything...
Gravol is a life saver. She is almost 60lbs so that would be a lot of throwup. She does well on it. I tried it at home before I took her in the car to make sure she did not have a reaction to it. You just need to know the dossage. Ask your vet. I was told 8mg/kg I give Ebony 100 to 150mg.
Zach is now 7 months and is still car sick, I am afraid that it is a permanent thing with him :(
I hope not. I have hoe that Ebony will grow out of this as we travel to the lake every weekend in the summer. I just keep giving her gravol.
My mini ALD was carsick for the first six months. We had meds from the Vet which helped a lot. If he took the medication he was fine, but if not he would vomit. Then it just disappeared. Now he's almost three and is never sick in the car...even on really long trips.
Oh I hope Parker grows out of it!
Dimenhydrinate is gravol...I have been giving it to her for 2 years for the long drives. I give her 8mg/kg but I would check with your vet..I find that she can be okay as long as the road is straight. Definitely motion sick. But she is okay on the boat...
That is odd. I get motion sick more on a boat than in a car. Are you sure it isn't anxiety causing the nausea? Our lab mix got nauseated as a puppy when riding in our car but outgrew it. He never had a problem in our RV though.
Nope no anxiety She seems to be okay until the road has twists and bends.
nice... I am sure hope the sme thing happens with Miss Ebony
You have my sympathy, Laura. That's hard on both of you.
I found with Lachlan, and now with Declan too, that bringing them up onto the front seat beside me helped a lot. Also, to echo Sue, I never take them out with a full tummy.
