Hi all!

I have not had a chance to read & enjoy everyones posts for some time!  I hope everyone is doing good.

Trixie is now 8 months old...I posted some current pictures of her on my page.

I love her long hair!  And we have only had a few very tiny matts under her arm pits that were easily combed out.

Is it ok to leave the hair over her eyes so long?  I love the look.  Can she see?

Does anyone know of a good video for me to look at to see how to trim around her eyes?

Trixie is a grazer...my 1st.  it is wierd to not have a dog inhale their food.  When she was younger she did that.  Now at 6...7...8 months she eats when she wants.   Sometimes 1/2 a cup a day sometimes 3!

She has not gained a pound in a month ...She sits at 48.5#.  I am hoping she will get a little bigger still.

But do love her this size too.

Oh my!  What a doll!
Pam, Trixie is adorable....she looks like a big ol' sheepdog doodle...LOL!! I like to trim around their eyes, just because I think it would bug me to have my hair hanging over my eyes. She is just perfect!!
LOL, Trixie brightened my morning. How adorable. Thanks.
OMD she is adorable!!! Look at that doodle nose!!! I have nothing constructive to say (I trim Lola's eyes myself, but have never watched or read any instructions...I wing it!!), just that she's super doodley-cute!
Trixie is beautiful!  I cant imagine that she can see well if you don't trim the hair in front of her eyes.  I was so nervous to learn how to do this, the first couple times I put Doggles on Monty in case he would move at the wrong time.  We have little blunt end scissors that we use, I give tell him to "hold" while I trim.  He will now sit very still until I am done.
Sooooo cute!

Thanks for all the Nice Comments.

I think my problem is I dont know where to start...I dont want it all trimmed...Which Hairs to trim?

Someone asked us if she was an Old English Sheepdog (they were walking their Sheep dog)

So I even googled grooming a Sheep dog...thought it would help with her face...But didnt find much

She is sooo cute!

Wow--that is just what people picture a doodle looking like--what a cutie PIE! I know that i would want to trim the eyes personally, but you can still have that scruffy look if you trim the hairs at different lengths instead of straight across. That way, you still have the shaggy look, but the hairs in front of the eye are thinner and shorter. You can hold the hair out from the head in between your fingers and instead of cutting across in a line, put the point of the scissors up into the hair and snip upwards towards the roots of the hair and you will get a more staggered cut--maybe try it on an inconspicuous area of Trixie's body first, so you can experiment a bit. Some people all use thinning shears and just cut the hairs with those and they come out all different lengths.

There are some good doodle grooming videos on Youtube and of course, we have a great grooming group here on DK.

Trixie looks very Doodly, she's gorgeous,  I love the shaggy look.  I trim Riley's hair above his eyes with the thinning shears a little, just so he can see out!.  He is good about it and manages to stay still though the first couple of times was a nightmare!   I also trim the hair out between the pads (in case stuff gets stuck there) and around the feet.   There are loads of tips on the Grooming Group. You can certainly keep the shaggy look.  Good luck.

I leave coopers fur long, and it does cover her eyes. she can see just fine - she can catch a ball, chase a ball, find a treat.... no problem

Oh my!  She is precious!   If you do decide to trim around her eyes, be sure to cover her eye with your thumb or finger to protect it from possible injury!  I read this in a book years ago and have always covered the eyes when I trim around them.
