COLLAR or HARNESS (and which ones?)

Hey guys,

I'm just trying to get some feedback regarding neck collars, or harnesses.

I am getting my 12 week old pup on February 13th.

He is a tiny goldendoodle.

should be 18-25lb full grown - and is 12 weeks when I get him.

What are your preferences ?

I think it will just depend on how your little guy does with a leash. Ragley has never been a "puller" on a leash, so a neck collar has been fine for her. If she ever starts pulling a lot, I will probably try out a harness. I'm sure everyone has their different opinions, though

And as far as type of collar- hers is just a classic plastic clasp collar. I made all of her collars though so I don't have a particular brand I can recommend. I made them out of fabric, though. It seems less rough on her neck than nylon.

I have both. I love the Easy Walk Harness and it is one of the most recommended around here. The collar, I have a regular plastic clasp one. I have the New Earth ones and I like them because they are more organic.

I use a collar on Yogi for going out to potty with his leash, but I use
a harness for walks, it's the easy walk dog harness. Our trainer recommended
it. He's never pulled, I just like using it, I think it's better for him. Also he knows the
difference between us going out for business or fun.

Just curious, why wait till he's 12 weeks?

He is 8 weeks and was ready to go home right now actually.

But he is a bday present for my wife - and her birthday is February 13th. 

I have him in a puppy imprinting training class for the next 3.5 weeks till I bring him home

Yogi is a mini goldendoodle...but he is 22 # right now, probably will be 35# full grown.  We wanted a bigger one so picked out the largest of the litter.

Also as a side note I bought the Easy Walk Harness at my local pet supply and paid 30 dollars!! I found it on Chewy.com for half the price. I feel like I am now becoming a walking advertisement for them lol. But it really is a great site!

I am the SAME way! My friends and parents keep telling me I should be getting some sort of commission from all the new customers I have gotten them lol Every time I go to a pet store I say, "I love these! but they are so much cheaper on chewy..."

I think I'm on the commission program as well! Cheaper, delivers to your door! Hard to beat.
