Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Thank you for adding me to this awesome group! I've already learned a lot from various posts you've shared. We're ready to add a Goldendoodle or possibly a Labradoodle to our family soon. Lots of local breeders I'm finding on Google don't have puppies available, and many have full waiting lists for future litters. But, strangely enough, I'm finding LOTS of Doodle pups for sale in our state through "Colorado Goldendoodle Puppies" http://goldendoodle.coloradopuppiesforsale.com. I learned that they are listings of various breeders throughout the state. This organization will share pictures of the parents of these pups - and says that all of these breeders have the parents OFA tested. However, buyers do not meet the breeder at their home, but rather somewhere in Denver. Would you recommend staying away from purchasing one of these puppies? Thanks in advance for your help! We can't wait to find our new Doodle!!! :)

Wendy, this is a huge national puppy mill broker that has been exposed many times on network TV. I will try to find you some links, but in the meantime, please, please stay far away.
Here you go, the company is Purebred Breeders LLC. Here's one link to an investigation, but there are lots of others: http://www.humanesociety.org/news/press_releases/2011/12/purebred_b...
Basically, if you Google any breed and any state, you will get one of their websites, that will look exactly the same. Try it. Pick a breed and a state. Michigan Schnauzers, say. Alabama Cockapoos.
Thank you, @Karen & Jackdoodle! That is so sad... and that's what I was concerned about!!! :( I will definitely stay away from them.
Here's a news article about the lawsuits filed by people who got sick puppies from them. http://www.theindychannel.com/news/lawsuit-against-nations-largest-...
Wendy, have you read the DK article What to Look for in a Breeder? If not, you really need to read it and take it to heart. These are the minimum standards you must require.
Stay away from any site that has ads for puppies from lots of different breeders. Reputable breeders do not ever sell puppies that way.
Yes, ethical, reputable breeders do have waiting lists; that's a good thing. It means they are not breeding tons of puppies and their pups are in high demand. You're going to have your dog for 12-16 years, take your time getting the right one from the right breeder. :)
Yes, thank you! I will definitely follow the recommendations in this article. :)
Also, if you find a breeder that you really like and their wait list is full, sometimes they have people back out at the last minute. If you are on their wait list for a future puppy then you might get to move up. That is how we ended up with our little AnnaBelle.
Thank you so much for sharing! I hadn't thought of that... and didn't realize people back out. I will look more closely at those that have wait lists. :)
Great advice and I want to second that thought that people back out--I sell pup for a breeder and the reasons vary from illness in the family to an unfinished house remodel to allergic reactions--and I also wanted to add that a great pup is worth waiting for--anyone who has a lot of pups available immediately raises a red flag for me. Right now, we are reserving pups for December of 2015 and January of 2016!
I know that is many cases, a family may back out simply because there wasn't a puppy of the sex they wanted available. I know that was the case with Annabelle's litter: There were only three males out of 13 puppies and more than 3 people on the reservation list who wanted males.
