Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I'm not sure if this is the place or what I'm really trying to say but I'm just going from my heart!  When I found this website, I had just lost my Zak and was looking for another doodle.  I was totally obsessed with all of the information and I learned so much!!!  What I did find, while going through all of the comments was that there were some awesome poems to deceased doodles that actually made me cry!  I just recently had a friend whose beloved dog passed away and I couldn't find any of these poems on this site, no matter what I tried in the search engine - now if I didn't do this correctly, please let me know.  What I'm thinking is that maybe we should have a place on DK where all of these inspirational poems are posted - I don't know if it should be a group, because they are hard to find unless you know the name but maybe just a heading that people can go to in order to find a peaceful poem that means something to them.  When you have lost a loved one, sometimes you just can't go to the forum, because you can't deal with the happy stuff but I know that some of these poems were awesome to me and now I just can't find them - especially the Rainbow Bridge one.  Karen had also posted an awesome tribute that I can't find right at the moment.  I think that maybe a heading with these inspirational poems or maybe just a "group" that had all of these poems that people find at the beginning and then after that people can just post their dogs pictures and a RIP with dates of birth and death so that they will always be on this website, even after death.  I was never on this website when I had my Zak, but I know that now, if Myla passed away, I would want her picture on this website forever.  Am I making sense????

Yes, you are making perfect sense.  We all need help to find the right words to express our feelings when we lose a loved one.

I do hear what you are saying. Forever is a long time and since I remember when ther was no Internet who knows how long even DK will last. But when searching try to think of a unique phrase from what you are looking for. I searched for Rainbow Bridge and found this easily:

Thank you!  I love this one so much!!!!

Here's another I remembered a phrase from:

It would be great to have a collection like that somewhere.

I know Karen showed me the tribute as well once we talked, but I'm in a deep denial so I can't find it anymore. I just hate "getting ready" for this to happen. My boys are way too young.

Exactly what I thought!  It's not going to happen for a long time but then I was looking for my friend and couldn't find anything and then when I read what happened with Jennifer and Charlotte, I thought that maybe we should have a site very close to hand so that we can get comfort if we're a member of this site or give comfort to someone who's not!  I love these poems and they helped me so much even though I wasn't looking for them when Zak passed away!!!

Love this story...

Dogs In Heaven?

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven" he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."
"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now."
"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."
So the old man and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?"
"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable"
"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere."
"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"
"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final."
The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."
"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?"
"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

(Based on the "Twilight Zone" episode "The Hunt" written by Earl Hamner Jr.)
