Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am trying to decide between a boy and girl labradodle from the same litter. I do not want my pup to have a wiry or straggly look. What do you think these two pup's coats are and what do you think they will look like when they are older!?

The first and second picture is the girl, and the third picture is the boy.

Not sure what you mean but if you are looking for the shaggy soft doodly coat then (like my boys) I would pick  the first one.  The second photo is a good one, you can see the hair starting to grow and there are some wavy bits, such a gorgeous puppy.. BUT you never know with doodles, they vary so much. Regardless of which one you will fall in love, good luck with your new puppy.

I think they will both get a nice wavy doodle coat probably. The boy looks like he is a parti.

They are both beautiful. They both looks like to have nice soft wavy coat. Neither one of them look to have a curly coat....

The little boy looks a little smaller? Or may be its just the way the photo was taken...

Yes, the definitely look like labradoodles.  If you want a softer coat, maybe you should consider a goldendoodle.  Take a look at my photos and you will see a labradoodle (brown), goldendoodle (black/white) and an ALD (beige brown).  The labradoodle was my best dog ever, but his coat was rather wiry (straggly).  Goldendoodles are usually much softer and curlier because the golden retriever has a nicer coat than a labrador.  I like the labradoodles, but it all depends on what you want and expect in a dog.  There is a lot of variation.  Looking at the parents may give you a better idea of what the pups will look like when they are older.

I agree Lynda, that's why we ended up with Goldendoodles. Definitely a Different texture coat!!

Well, I'm not sure I agree with that assessment. I have 2 labradoodles, and one has a wiry, wooly coat, and the other has a soft curly coat (not wooly). I think labradoodles come in all hair types just like goldendoodles.. Now, the generation of labradoodle can make a big difference in hair texture/quality. The pups above look to me to be F1's, although F1B's can also produce pups with similar coats. Multi gen labradoodles have the highest likelihood for a soft curly coat.

Both cute! My friends Labradoodles coats Both changed as they matured to more wiry coats and were not like that as pups. They are also from different breeders.
