Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My DH and I both LOVE Luna's smell, so I decided it would be a fun game to try to describe your doodle's smell in 3 words.

I'm not talking the strange smells they sometimes come in with from outside.. or the after-bath smell, or the smell after they've eaten some smelly treats.  Just describe their "normal" smell, the one you get if you bury your nose deep in the fur on top of their head and take a good sniff!

I'll get us started:

Luna smells - sweet, smoky and woodsy

Where's the salsa?
Achilles smells like rain.
Well I am glad all of you have such nice smelling doodles...HOWEVER Ginger smells fishy, wet dog and fritos. And that's on a good day!  After a walk with my husband...WOOOOO  I don't know who is worse.   Maybe i need to change shampoos!!

How often do you bathe her?

Luna gets into all sorts of mischief so she gets about a bath a week, often more.  I try to limit using soap to once a week, since I know it's not great for her skin.

We use a mild oatmeal puppy shampoo so it doesn't irritate her skin with the frequent bathing.

She also doesn't have a beard, which cuts down on the smell somewhat.

Thanks...now what about my husband!!!

That being said - Luna doesn't need to be brushed after, so if you have a curlier doodle then weekly baths may be a bit much!

Husbands... I don't know, not much help there ;)

Quincy's three words are pleasingly outdoor fresh.
Ned smells woodsy.  Clancy smells doggy.
This has been driving me crazy.  I've been down on the floor smelling my Doods....they smell like "guys".

Haha - It's hard to describe the smell isn't it!

I'm not sure if "guy" smell is a good thing...
