Did any of your husbands think you'd gone cuckoo when you started on this site? My husband can't believe this strange new addiction I have to doodles and the DK website. I'm even thinking of getting a better chair at my computer station!! He loves it though that I am finally coming out of my funk at having lost my last dog, Sandy. And that I am interested in photography now. Thanks to all of you for introducing me to a new life. Oh, and let's not even go there w/ friends--me sending them pics, links, etc. They are ready to commit me!!!
Diane, my husband did think I was somewhat nuts, but uses me as his authority on doodles. He will ask me to ask someone on dk about xyz! Now, my kids on the other hand, know I am nuts and tease me unmercifully. Oh well, I just send them links that are pertinent to their dogs that I got from dk! They love that - they just think Ned is a bit of a foo foo dog with his fluff and pushiness.
That's funny, Nancy. My kids also think Guinness is a foo foo dog. We always had the large sporting breeds when they were growing up (Golden, Lab, Dalmatian). They think that I totally baby Guinness and treat him differently than the others...they are right. But, they are quick to admit that he's the cutest and smartest dog ever! My daughter has a Golden the same age as Guinness so there are lots of "comparisons". Also, I have so much more time now that the kids are grown and I'm retired. I can actually really enjoy a dog more than in the past when I was juggling a career and household.
DH thinks it....my parents think it....my friends would think it if they knew about my guilty pleasure...hehehe!
But I will tell you, at least DH is in love with our Lady Peri. He tells her she is the most beautiful dog on a daily basis. They are very, very attached. But she still follows me around (loves her mama!).
My DH was not very supportive about me getting my second doodle but it has only taken 2 weeks for him to come around! I always know when he becomes attached because he finds a nickname for them. In Sydey's case it is Syd the squid! I know my husband would have been perfectly happy if he never owned a furry creature but living with me for 30 years has brought him, 2 cats, 5 dogs, 2 rabbits, 2 birds, various gerbils, tropical fish and a horse. He gave up long ago on me!
Well... you're in good company! And to answer your question... YES! Even my own kids, my flesh and blood, think I lost it.... my older son calls it my "facebook". Since I always tell him to get off facebook and do his homework, he feels the need to give it right back to me when I say to him... wait, just let me check one more thing out. Can't help it - it's so contagious!
You guys are hilarious. I also joined a bunch of clubs on DK. When I called from St. Louis (out of town), I said, could you check my email because the security guy at the new house has a question (I woke up with a man w/ hose over his face looking at me under the covers, and have had dogs, security systems ever since). He called back and said, YOU'VE GOT 99 EMAILS FROM DK ON YOU MAIL!!! WHAT IS GOING ON? You guys rock. Then I saw he even snooped a couple of them. We're going to get him hooked, I just know it!!!! Thanks for the responses. He has always loved or kids and dogs, but this is our first "foray" into a smaller dog.
