Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My mom and I were curious about the breed of her new dog, Barley. For those of you who don't know, in October, my co-worker's daughter found Barley abandoned in a cart in a grocery store parking lot. We checked for a microchip twice, and called the local animal control, shelter, and a couple of vets, and no one had a report of a missing dog. So after sleeping on it, my mom decided to keep him. We finally decided to try to figure out what he is, just so we can learn more about breed-specific personality traits or possible illnesses or disorders that he might be prone to. So we swabbed him about 3 weeks ago and sent it in.

Barley Bear Parker is a Maltese - Poodle mix! That was one of our original guesses. I could never let go of the idea that he might be part poodle. He and Halas have a lot of similar mannerisms, so I just felt like some poodle must be in there somewhere.
Barley is a great dog. He doesn't seem to have any obedience training, but he is pretty well-behaved. He and Halas love playing chase and tug-of-war. They are both learning from the other. It's fun to watch. We're so glad he's a member of our family now.
