Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So, I move out to California mid-April, and now find myself, for the past 9 days in Omaha doing some consulting work for the company I used to work for. I don't mind the money (given I don't have a job yet) but I am missing Rua like crazy. She has adjusted quite well...playing with her cousins Mogie & Remy and having my sister Dawn and brother Ralph pay all kinds of extra attention to her. She sleeps at the foot of my sister's bed and I am afraid she won't want to sleep on my bed when I finally get back on Thursday.
My brother set up a Skype account on his end and I had a Skype account (got when I bought my little Netbook, but had never used), so I had too do what any OCDM (obsessive compulsive doodle mom) would do. I Skype with Rua!
I plan to Skype again tonight (I am going to let Rua's papa Skype with her too). She stares at the screen and also tries to lick it! LOL
So, are you crazy sane like me and Skype with your Doodle when you are away?

I don't, but I understand how you're feeling Dori. I think it's an awesome idea! Wouldn't you love to know what she's thinking when she sees you on the screen?
Don't have a need but I LOVE that you are doing it, I mean seriously how adorable! Oh and I wouldn't worry about losing your bed partner, she is only sleeping there cause she misses you :0)
Good for you doing consulting work, you are, as always, very resourceful.
Ditto for me...never away from home so no need for Skype, but I think it's adorable that you and Rua are Skyping!
I havent been away, but if I did have to go away i would so skype with Cooper (and DH of course lol). I use skype to chat with my Mum in England and my sister and niece in Australia, and Cooper has to say hi to them!
Dori, First of all, I love your profile picture. The love you have for Rua shines through in that photo. I have never used Skype, but think it is neat that you are using it to keep in touch with Rua.
Dori - this picture of Rua is so darn sweet - I love the look on her face while she stares at the computer screen!! Rooney & Stuart would both skype with their daddy when he was working in New York or China but Rooney didn't like it - for some reason it scared him, Stuart didn't mind but wasn't into it. I'm so happy for you that you can get your Rua "fix" this way - and do not worry - that little doodle bug will be sticking to you like glue when you get back home!!!
Riley loves to Skype with my daughter in Singapore. He gets really excited and goes around the back of my computer to try to find her. I'm not sure he can see the screen though he definitely knows she is there.
Well I think it's amazing that Rua actually looks at the screen. My dogs would probably look at everything but the screen and then wonder why they're being forced to stare at nothing..haha.
If I knew how to skype, I would do this. Without opposable thumbs though,
my guys would find it hard to work the computer.
This is so sweet Dori!!! I don't but only because I haven't had a need but in your circumstance I certainly would Skype! My problem is that I'm not sure that Tara would "see"me because she seems oblivious to the computer monitor and the TV. :(
Hope you two are back together and snuggling soon!
Dora isn't Skype wonderful. My daughter and I lived only one mile apart in Seattle and then my husband and I moved east of the mountains 3.5 hrs away. Charlie and I skype with my daughter all the time and now when he hears her voice online, he will run over to me and want to get in the action - he keeps turning his head and watching her and then will give a little woof and bounce down on this front paws! Very cute - like lets play.
