Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I was at the local shelter photographing some of the doggies and came across Izzie. She was ADORABLE, just so charming and scrappy looking. I think she may be a Border Collie/Terrier mix, but her hair was really soft, not wire like. So I guess there is a possibility she could be a poodle mix. She was very timid and affectionate and I think I fell in love a little. :-)
What do you think? Terrier or Poodle mix?

!!! Oh JD.
Amen!
So glad that you were there to save him Karen :o)
Me too!
So true, Karen! And then he's such a well-behaved dog, too. Amazing.
To this day, I can't figure it out.
She is adorable. Her coloring reminds me of Old English Sheepdogs, as they are black and white as pups and then the black turns gradually grey. But there is something in her eyes that has a border collie look. And her ears are set up too high. However, given that all of the best dogs in the world can't be doodles, and this cutie might be one of the best! You can see the intelligence in the gaze. And it is a wonderful photo.
I'm so grateful to people like you that help the shelters with photos, and my groomer that weekly gives a professional groom to at least one of the shelter dogs. Those things help so much in bringing people in to the shelters to look and hopefully adopt. We have a group that brings inner-city kids to the shelter and helps them learn to train select dogs - the kids learn so much and gain lots of confidence and the shelter dogs become much more adoptable! It's double-rewarding!
I agree with everyone else who sees a lot of Border Collie in this beautiful dog--and I agree with Kathy's point that not every wonderful dog can be a doodle!
Even more than her coloring, it is her intent expression, looking straight into the camera, that just screams Border Collie to me. Did she try to herd you after the photos?
Camilla, this is such a wonderful service you're providing the shelter. I know it must help them place their dogs even faster. You're such a talented and generous person!
Having owned Doodles and a Border Collie... I LOVE this dog!
Maybe it's one of the super hybrids from that quirky TV show from a few years back "Pushing Daisies"... I think they were named Border Coll-ador Russel-poos. Or something like that. ;-)
In any case, that is one beautiful dog. And Camilla you are doing a GREAT thing by taking such high quality pictures for this shelter. Keep up the good work!
Just to clarify, I am not doodle prejudiced. LOL. I just thought you'd all have fun guessing which breed she might be. If I was considering adopting (which I am not) not being a doodle wouldn't affect my decision. I'm an equal opportunity dog lover. :-)
If I was considering adopting a dog this beauty would be way high on my priority list. What an appealing dog. Camila, thank you so much for doing this for your shelter. When I heard you were doing this, I decided I could volunteer to help at Clancy's alma mater. Just then they announced that they had a couple of professionals who had volunteered. Good for them. Another fund raiser idea - once a month anyone can bring their dog(s) and get a professional portrait done for a donation to the shelter. Win win situation for all!
It is a really good idea, and I've thought about it. The only problem is how to give the photos to the people. Printing one for every person could get expensive, and we'd have to collect all the addresses. I thought about collecting e-mails though. For now I think I'll stick with what I'm doing, and I found another shelter to volunteer the same service for so I'll be adequately busy. :-)
