We have a work day morning routine that rarely varies, either on my part or on Quincy's.  DH takes him for a walk to the beach, feeds him and then he comes bounding up the stairs to greet me. He keeps me company while I do the treadmill then we head down for coffee and a treat for him.  Back upstairs for a shower and he lays on the tile and waits for me.  Once dressed, we go back down for the final outdoor run, then I hold up the cream cheese stuffed Kong and he is into the crate!

This morning he stunned me by staying upstairs after I was dressed!  He NEVER has not followed me down.  I was thinking he was resisting the crate (which he half heartedly did last week).  But he just stayed at the top of the stairs,  not moving.  I walked up and WELLA, he was laying on top of a small plastic ball.  Looked like a ping pong ball.  What? Where did this come from? He got up and ran away, but knew the jig was up and dropped it.  I had visions of how it would have looked on an xray stuck in his gullet!  Especially after looking at all those vet  xrays the other day!  On the way to work I figured out where it was from.  At squeaker toy that he has had since he came home!  He finally got the material covering off!  Thank goodness I never put squeaker toys in his crate with him or who knows.

Whew!

That is a bullet dodged, especially if Quincy is the kind of doodle that will eat anything. Lucy, my 3-1/2 yr old doodle, use to take the squeakers out of all her squeakable toys (she has a real fascination with anything that squeaks!), but she's the kind of dog that likes to mouth inedible objects and not eat them. I picked up/threw away all the squeakable toys months ago, when Oscar was quite young. He's our little vacuum cleaner. Anything that can go down, will go down! Balls are the only toys lying around the house these days.

He is more of a mouther, but the size of it would make it easy enough to swallow but then get stuck.  I just called my DH-he was home first and went on a search - sure enough it was that toy I was thinking it was from.  Funny, it was an original toy from his first week that he played with so often.  Guess it had a good run but it is now in the garbage!

Whoa!  You did dodge a bullet!  Thank goodness for all of you!

Too close for comfort.  Kudos to you for recognizing that something was out of whack...

What a stinker that Quincy is!  I can't believe he was hiding that from you just waiting for you to go away so he could continue on undetected!  ......are these boogers smart or what?!?!???

Thank goodness ... do you have pet insurance ... if not, now might be the time!

isn't it amazing how we run on instincts and so do they...you knew something was up  & he ran away from the ball..or at least it sounds that way!!

luck..ya gotta have some!!

I do have pet insurance thanks t the suggestions from all of you!

Stinker!!!

Yup-he was definitively trying to get away with it! Had that devilish look!

That would have been terrible if he had swallowed that.  Good thing you didn't chase him and make him think it was a game.
