Does your Doodle watch TV? Cute maybe BUT dangerous at times. Need your help

Hi All

This is my very first post, although I have been frequently helped by your suggestions and experience (for this I thank all of you!!).  My Emily is 5 years old, born in America but moved to the UK with me 2 years ago.  She is 95% of time a perfect dog and I can't imagine life without her now.  However, there is one thing she does which I have not been able to address.  Emily watches TV, movies, documentaries, sitcoms, everything.  And even though she is the most friendly dog ever with all "live" beings, she attacks the TV every time a dog, horse or cat appears on TV.  She actually recognises the sound track of a TV ad she has seen before and knows how to wait until a dog that she knows she has seen before in that particular ad appears. She might be in another location in the house, when she hears the ad she will come running, sits in front of TV waiting for the dog or cat to appear and then attacks the TV like nothing I have seen before, barking and jumping. It can actually be a tiny little puppy which only appears for 5 second and she still can spot it and go after it like it presents a clear dangerous to her being.  Emily is not a jealous or protective dog and gets along well with every dog (and cat) she ever met.  Anyone has any suggestions?

One of my three doodles does this--my husband eggs her one and will say "Mattie there is a doggie on TV" and she will run in from another room to see it. Most of the time, she just stands there and barks, but sometimes she will leap at the screen, but never touches it. The other dogs have no clue what this is all about.. ..makes it very hard to watch any shows with dogs, but maybe I will try to control it--I have never tried really, I just change the channel and say ALL GONE!

Until I had a dog that was extremely interested in dogs, cats, and horses on tv (and cartoons versions of them!), I didn't realize how many shows and commercials had these things. It's kinda funny to watch him watch intently when these things are on TV. Once in awhile, he growls or something, but quickly backs off with a disapproving tone from me.

Emily is also very interested in cartoon version of them, sometimes when it is not quite a dog or a recognisable animal she will stare long enough to make up her mind if it is worth going after it or not

We definitely have the same "problem".  My ALD loves to watch television or videos on the computer.  He needs a sound trigger (especially a dog barking) and he comes running.  He sometimes just lays on the couch and watches for some action on the TV.  He is very attentive when something catches his attention.  He will jump up at the television screen but after knocking it over once, he does not hit it.  He stands by me to look at the computer screen.  We have started warning him with an "Aahhh" when he is alerted that something is happening on the TV screen.  That seems to remind him that it is a "look but don't touch" command.  He particularly loves horses running on the screen but any animal action is an attraction for him.  Our goldendoodle could care less.
