So today would have been Riley's 5th birthday.  I woke up in an especially sad mood, not really wanting to acknowledge his absence or the gaping hole that's still in my heart.  It would figure that I finally get a day off from the rat race that would coincide with a day I would rather have my brain buried at work.

I'm trying to keep myself busy, so I decided to start my spring cleaning. (Yes, I know I'm about a month or two behind)  I've found a lot of "Riley tumbleweeds" as I like to refer to them, which hasn't helped matters.  As the sun is shining in, I've noticed a long wall of dog drool that's obviously been there for a while... how I never noticed it until today is beyond me... I'd love to know what my friends think when they come over.  Anyway, I've tried using a windex multi-surface cleaner and it worked a little.  Any of you have any magic products or ingredients that I can try so It doesn't look like I live in squalor?  After all, I want my house to be spotless when my new puppy shows up in a couple of weeks ready begin his mayhem on my home.  :-)

Happy Birthday Riley!!  Mandy, I am sending you hugs and prayers from PA.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Congrats, though, on the new puppy that's due to arrive soon. The puppy will help to bring joy into your life at this difficult time. We had only had Lucy home about 2 weeks when my 23 yr old cat passed. Lucy helped to overshadow a lot of the pain. As to the dog slobber, be careful if you have flat paint. You don't want to use anything abrasive (like a Magic Eraser) on a flat paint. It will take off the paint along with the slobber.

I've never had flat paint, but have used the plain white magic eraser on satin, semi-gloss, and eggshell without a problem.  Did it actually take the paint off the wall?  That would be bad.

Thanks all!  -- for your kind words and your cleaning suggestions.  I never left the house today because I looked like a hot mess, so I used whatever stuff I could find.  The steamer suggestion was great!  I went that route because I do have dark-colored flat paint and I was afraid some of the other things would take the paint off.  It worked well.  I used it a little on my hardwood floors for some spots that I couldn't get off before.  I managed to get lots done today- I cleaned a little, cried a little, but both needed to be done.  The day wasn't as terrible as it started out to be, dare I say that cleaning made me feel better?  The fumes must have gotten to me.
