I was wondering if everyone assumes that your doodle puppy is a girl?  Because Chewie is so cute (unbiased opinion of course) everyone just thinks he is a girl.  Even when I say his name and and that he is a boy a lot of people still say she.  This doesn't bother me, but just wondering if it is common ??

My dog often gets mistaken as a he, even when she is wearing a pink rain jacket, pink collar and pink leash. It doesnt help that she actually has a boys name (my maiden name)

we have a 16 year old golden brown pitbull at work (she belongs to my boss) who usually wears a doggy sweater to keep her warm. Even when the sweater is pink, and she has a pink collar and leash she gets called a he too. Even after they find out her name is Dolly!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gracie Doodle gets mistaken often for a boy and I have no idea why. She has a very large presence but only weighs 70lbs. She is very tall so I think people just assume that tall large dogs must be boys??? She is so cute and sweet looking...how could they not think she is a girl? I can even tell them her name and they will continue to call her a HE. I sort of think that if the person has a dog at home then the gender of that dog is the gender they keep referring to. I call all dogs a she right now unless I look...lol
I think people just don't pay attention (or don't care). People will ask me Sophie's name and then still call her a "he". People always think Lucy is a "he". Even after I say "She" they still say he! I can't put pink bandannas on both of them and people will still call Lucy a "he". I'll even say no, they are Litermate sisters and they will say Oh "he" came from the same liter!
A lot of people assume Bella is a boy becuase she's so big and scruffy. She loves mud and although we try to keep her clean it's ridiculous to even consider bathing her as often as we would to keep her clean (probably twice a day...lol). So, she appears to be a boy without any 'equipment'. She has a red collar now and I was thinking of switching back to the pink one but even when she wore that no one really noticed it and assumed, 'Hey that's a girl..'. I don;t get upset just gradually correct through conversation often pointedly saying she and girl.
People call Halas a girl all the time. I think it's his eyelashes (among other things) that make him look girly. I guess his name doesn't really clear things up, but I figure everyone should know that George Halas was a boy. But if they've never heard of Halas, they think I'm saying Alice, thereby confirming their thought that Halas is a girl.
You would be very surprised how many people never heard of George Halas. A while back, someone asked me why you had given your doodle a Middle Eastern name, LOL! I guess they read it as "Hamas"!
Everyone calls Comiskey a "he"....I know the name is confusing....but even the White Sox have been know to play like girls at times (little Chicago humor)...
Fudge is constantly being called a he and I think she is a beautiful she. I have been having her wear girlie bandanas.
People actually think both of mine are boys!
I think a lot of people just call your dog by what THEY have at home, or are used to being with. I have all females and when I go to my daughters house, she has two big male dogs and I say "she" sometimes, when talking about them. We often get people calling Jasmine and Jersey boys, I just say "they're girls" and smile.
That's true.
Everyone always thinks Maggie is a boy, even with her purple leash and collar. And she's not even very big. She's at her full size and only 57 pounds.
