Sadly, it looks like a doodle was the cause of the pooping incident on a flight recently. The dog in question pooped more than once and the flight was diverted because the smell was making passengers sick. The dog was definitely not feeling well. I saw another article that described the dog as a "service dog" but maybe an emotional support dog? He's not wearing any vest.
"Passengers said they got sick from the stench on the US Airways Flight 598 that was heading from L.A. to Philadelphia on Wednesday, according to NBC Los Angeles. They also said that the pup dropped a deuce at least three times. The plane had to land in Kansas City, Missouri so a crew could clean up the mess."

I'm surprised they didn't have something to clean it up and dispose of it during the air... landing a plane seems a little extreme over dog poop. That situation certainly makes for a crappy day for all.
They ran out of paper towels. <rolling eyes now> And if it was an emotional support dog, the owner is probably a wreck now. She takes her dog on board for support and ends up with a nightmare.
OK, I personally just got a huge laugh out of this!
And landing the plane is so overboard! But I'm a nurse, and a mom, and a dog-owner... completely unfazed by poop of all varieties!
Poor doodle and owner, Hope I never have a problem on a plan
Maybe it wasn't a nicely solid poop and spread with paws or feet?
That's what I'm thinking - especially by the third time. This was a stressed dog who likely wasn't trained as a service dog and was ill prepared for a cross country flight. Still I'd be scraping it up with a newspaper if nothing else. You'd think someone on the flight had some baby wipes.
OMD! IT was a dood?? I heard about this...and agree, seems a little absurd that they had to land a da&*( plane. Come on!
How silly - how unprepared this airline is for any type of living thing. Human children have been known to produce large quantities of either waste material or regurgitated matter during motion.... Surely they had some sort of means to clean up a mess.... granted, an awful mess - but...
While anybody or anything could pick up a bug, stress causes many reactions - lack of experience, overfeeding prior to a long flight - or simply bad timing - nobody will forget this flight. Service animals are not required to wear a vest, but he looks too big to travel in cabin any other way.
poor guy!
