Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Bear is the last dog on the adoption page. He is listed as a labradoodle but the kennel supervisor told me he is a goldendoodle.
This is a no kill shelter and they don't usually have problems with doodle adoptions, but I thought maybe someone here would be interested in this guy
Bear is a BIG boy (guessing 80 plus), solid black, and appeared VERY energetic. He was romping back and forth with the Jack Russell next to him.
Murphy and I met Bear at our Woofstock fundraiser for the Humane society. Please let me know if I can help anyone adopt this guy.

I hope he gets adopted soon. Three weeks in the shelter is a long time, even though they are no-kill.
I hope so too Karen
I cross-posted his listing on the DRC site; big black male in a shelter needs all the exposure he can get, and it doesn't look like they post the dogs on Petfinder. I wish we had a photo.
I will try to get a photo of him. They have my number if it is a problem.
The best thing to do is to ask them to notify you if his status changes (i.e. he is at risk). I do that with doodles I find in my local public shelters. Usually healthy, adoptable dogs like doodles are safe and not at risk unless the shelter becomes overcrowded, even in the public animal control shelters.
I just read in Readers Digest that some no kill shelters can claim they are no kill because they actually take the animals to a vet's office where the animals are put down, so technically not on the shelter's property. Not saying this one does that but it kinda puts the No Kill status in a different light. Do we have anyone in Louisiana that could pull this doodle?
My friend used to work at a no kill SPCA (in Canada). They would send cats and dogs to another SPCA shelter to be killed.
I think there are differences between private shelters and public ones. This appears to be a private group, and those are usually legitimately no-kill.
We definitely have kill shelters in this area. From everything I have heard, this is a no kill shelter.
She has my number if anything changes. He looks like a black JD
Then he must be absolutely adorable! :-D
Hopefully someone will be looking for a cuddle BEAR and snatch him up!
I love black doodles. I hope he gets adopted. Even though big black doods are beautiful, we ALL know how doodles can end up looking in some shelters - mangly, matted, etc....
