Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Where are you getting your dood's presents this year? What's your favorite site? Where do you find the best deals?? What is your DOODLE's favorite toy??? YOURs?
Bella loves her unstuffed fox toy, she's on her second. Our retriever loves the kong squeaky tennis balls. The lab likes nylabones. I like anything that makes them happy :)
I find that Drs Foster and Smith have the newest and most diverse selection, while dog.com has the best deals . . . by far! They have all of the essentials for dirt cheap prices and then some, so they are my new favorite go-to store.

Yep Bandy's birthday was last week and now Christmas!! And I am soo bad about spoiling them and taking them out to the pet store for "socialization"!!! LOL! Now I have got to go check out dog.com, don't tell DH!!
Suz... think I'll try that rule with my son this Christmas! LOL
I just ordered a stuffed santa for Lilly and a jinglebell collar for %50 off at "harrybarker.com".
It's time for new nylabones and antlers and a giant bone of some sort.
Some of you just told me about antlers and Ollie is definitely getting those for Christmas. He will probably also get a toy that sqeaks. He loves sqeaky animal toys. I probably have the only doodle in the world that is not into balls at all. If I were to go by his wishlist, unwashed socks and shoe laces would be the first choices. ;-)
Bandit isn't into balls at all. unlike his sissy. he does love small squeaker toys like the squirrels from the hide a toy. but he does have an obession with the eggs from plush puppies egg babies for over a month now. I just think his mouth is tooo small to find to much interest in a tennis sized ball
The Hide=A-Squirrel lasted Murphy about a year, thru most of his puppyhood and teething. Got a second larger set at around 13 months and he destroyed in about a month. But loved his first one. I definitely recommend the antlers, nyblabones, and any ball or cube that keeps them busy with food or treats in it.
Murphy loves the unstuffed squirrel but Bella would have it apart in 5 min. Otherwise the big braided ropes actually last pretty long and they do play tug with them
I just saw a "candy cane" shaped rawhide, about 3 feet long, at Petco yesterday. I can just picture them dragging this thing around, how dirty and slimy it would be.....Santa is NOT bringing that to our house.
I am going to attempt to make Rua a crate cover for Christmas (key word is attempt).
Currently I am using a beach towel but it doesn't cover the back or the entire front.
I searched on-line yesterday for crate covers and found this site http://www.kevinandamanda.com/photos/den.html and loved the crate cover she made.
I bought Rua's bag at a little boutique and really loved the girly pink on the classic black & white, so when I saw that crate cover, it inspired me.
So, here is my material (I am going to back it with white fleece so I don't have to hem and to help keep it warm - we keep the house at 62 at night and when we are gone).
I found these directions in the http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/diydoityourself group under Crate Covers and Bumper Pads.
"For the crate cover, just measure your crate and cut your fabric about 2" bigger (enough for hemming). You need 5 pieces: Front, Back, Top, Side, and other Side. Lay the top piece on the crate (wrong side up) and pin the Sides to the top piece (also wrong side up) so that they hang down in place. Make sure you leave enough room to hem the bottom, but don't do that until the very last step. Go ahead and sew the two Side pieces to the Top piece. Then repeat with the Back piece. Sew at the top and also on both sides of the Back piece. I was constantly putting the cover back on the crate in between every step to make sure it was fitting correctly. :) Next pin the Front piece at the top. Measure where you need the window for the door, then cut it out and trim it in ribbon. Sew it in place, then hem all the way around the bottom and you're done!"
Not quite sure how I will incorporate the ribbon at this time since the door in the picture isn't covered and the pattern includes a piece to cover the door (and that is what I am going to do), but something will come to me.
I found a website that had "iron-on" embroidered 3" hot pink letters that look similar to the letter on Rua's bag. So, if I can't figure something else out, I will go with that.
When I done, I will post the finished product!
I hope Rua doesn't guess what is going on.
Has anyone tried the "Smart dog" toys like the Brick, Twister, and all those toys you hide treats in and the dog has to do certain things to get the treat out? I'm thinking about getting one, but they're rather expensive to buy without knowing that Sunny would be smart enough to make it work. Also, I wonder if she would get bored of it.
So far, Sunny has a bag of treats, a couple antlers, a bully stick, a plush magician's hat with 3 squeaky rabbits inside, a "tuff toy" stegosaurus, a "tuff" dragon, a "tuff" octopus, a soft monkey, a Kong Wubba monkey, and a new collar/leash set with a breast cancer awareness design.
I'd like to tell you and see what you think about this... I have not gone shopping for my family yet or any other humans, but I have already spent 200 or more dollars on my labradoodle. She is my only dog, though, and I don't have kids, so I guess it makes sense? I'm a broke college student too, so that 200 bucks was a lot. Lol!! I'm obsessed. And I really don't want to go shopping for my mom and dad's presents.
