My doodle friend Margie told me about some great tricks that her Buddy can do. I thought they were so great I was wondering if anyone else has taught their doodle tricks.
Murphy knows all his basic commands very well and I play hide and seek with him and hide the treat but I would like to teach him more tricks. The only good one he knows is we have him balance a treat on his snout and tell him to stay. He will hold perfectly still until we say ok. After the ok he sometimes flips the treat from his nose and catches it or just drops and eats it. We think he is so smart.
Samson is fun to teach. I wish that I had more time to devote to it. He knows all the basics - high five, shake, high ten (sit on his back legs & hold up both paws like giving someone ten), roll over, bang! (for play dead), dead bug (made up for roll over on his back with his legs sticking up), that's all we've taught him so far. He's about 15 or 16 months old.
Yeah I think I could get Ozzie to do it, but seriously Mocha won't do ANYTHING...I should take a video...you wouldn't believe how long she will wait for a treat!! It is actually pretty funny. My mom's Westie could do everything, sit, shake, roll over, sit up, sit down...I swear at like 2 months...
that is tooo funny!!! as i was reading the first few posts.... i was thinking the same thing!! Izzy is quite talented in those departments!!! and tucker....well, he sit forever waiting for a nummy! oh yes....he can ring the sleigh bells every 10 minutes to go out to play!!
but i would have to say that Izzy is a master at thieving!! that is her talent....you see it as helping with laundry, i see it as being a master thief!! lol.... she can open doors with her nose to steal anything in sight!! if only i could teach her to steal items that were worth something.....lol i don't think it would be worth it going to jail for socks, undies, and paper towels!!!
We haven't worked much on tricks lately, but ours know:
Dexter: Shake both paws), high five (both paws), play dead (we make a pretend guy and pretend shoot him), roll over (when he feels like it)
Kirby: Shake, high five, roll over (when he feels like it)
Toby went to puppy school - four weeks of classes. We learned a lot as owners, and he learned some as a dog. :) He knows sit, stand, down, high five, "Which One?" (which hand is the treat in - taps it with his paw), stay (sometimes), Here, and we're working on leave it. "Off" is a work in progress, as is "No Jump". He will rollover three quarters, but not all the way around.
