Do you closely monitor you dood(s) going out?? I walk out every time cheering them on "GO POTTY!" "GO POTTY!" "GO POTTY!" until the actual "events" occur. And I usually have phenomenal success 2 for 2 or 4 for 4 in my case. But gosh all mighty when Bandy rings the bell or Rosey goes out and DH takes them and he brings them in, I will say "sooo what did they dooo" and he say's "i dunno" they did something! WTD aren't you watching?? Why do you go out there then?? to protect them from Lions, Tigers and Bears? And he says "YES! and dinosaurs, goblins, and ghosts!!" God save the DH!!
This is really kind of funny, whoever takes Quincy out does a report when we come in. This is VITAL information. He has 2 poops a day so need to know if he's delivered and need to know that he's done a pee so we know if he's fooling or not (or just wants to go look for the neighbours cat) when he looks to go outside 30 mins later.
I AGREE! and I know DH does to but he just doesn't stick it out sometimes!! I would prefer they learn to do their biz before they eat but as soon as they do one or the other he thinks they are done!! And then they eat and we have to go thru the whole go out thing again!!
My goldendoodle Thomas is 2 yrs old now....Up until a few months ago we used to stand outside in the cold...heat...rain...snow...sleet...etc. to see what "good boys" (tht is wht we call it..the poo and pee pee thing) he did...I just needed to know! But honestly he can handle it himself now...he knows what to do!
I guess we are lucky. We have a doggie door in our kitchen sliding door and Gracie Doodle just takes herself out and lets herself back in when ever she wants. Even sometimes at night we find her out in the patio sleeping on the cool cement. She doesn't have run of the entire back yard at night though. Only the patio and planted area. Beyond that area we have skunks at night...ewwwwww!
What is it with DH's and their lack of interest in "potty" time? I patiently trail behind Rua, flashlight in hand, looking for success. When I ask my DH if we went "potty and poo", I usually get, I think so!
We are not in the situation of come and go as you please. Although if you could see the state of our screen door you might disagree!! I just feel best if when leaving them they all have done all their business, and I seem to be the only one to make that magic happen!
I had to go out with my dogs for 29 years, because I didn't have a fenced yard; now that I do, it's still a habit. And JD is weird and doesn't like to be outside without me, anyway. I do keep track of the "output". And I protect him from chipmunks.
DH is actually the one that can get the job done at our house. I call him the Poopmeister. Tara doesn't always like to go out into the grass (especially if it is wet) and will pace up and down the sidewalk in the backyard stalling. I have no patience with this and will bribe, beg, plead, demand or try to PULL her out into the grass to get on with it. This is normally the "just before bed" outting which is important to acheive success with. But she still won't go for me. So I come in defeated and DH will take her right back out and she will go immediately. Probably because I had her all PRIMED!!! Anyhow it is annoying!!! BUT I do require a full report on #2 each time, I like to stay on top of it (not literally, Ha!) because of her sensitive stomach. So the Poopmeister will give me a full report a.m. and p.m.
I would love to able to feel comfortable putting her out by herself to get'er dun!! :) Not quite there yet...
yup I check the output too! Sometimes its too dark too find the poop this time of year so DH gets a detailed description of the area so that if he takes Cooper out in the morning he can find the deposit and pick it up! Cooper poops twice a day, usually pretty regular, but we need to know if she doesnt so we actually believe her when she says she needs to go. (often she just wants to go and play)
I often have to go out on the deck to get Luca to go out but often I then let the dogs stay out, to do whatever they want until I want them in or Luca, never Calla, barks once every 30 seconds or so to announce he's ready to come in. Unless somethings going on I don't feel the need to monitor all output, I'll see what there when I go on poop patrol.
