Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I saw the thread a few days ago about a snake hunting lab and doodle pair... and it got me thinking - I wonder how many of our doodles fancy themselves as great hunters?
List the things your doodle likes to hunt!
Luna has stalked/hunted things since we got her. A short list of things Luna stalks and/or tries to catch (or does catch):
- Us (she stalks me while we're playing)
- Her toys (usually when she's tired, she will stalk instead of running after the toys)
- Anything that flies (bees, birds, houseflies, bits of fluff in the air, leaves)
- Ants (she stalks/eats these on the patio)
Here is a video of her when she was a little 9 week old hunter:

So cute!
Myla is all Chipmunks and Squirells! And her red ball-won't take her eyes off it.
Chloe is anything and everything-she stalks leaves and paper
she stands up on her back legs "hunting" for her favorite peeps on her walks, she also knows where all the kids and cats live.
She also stalks turtle statues in one of our neighbors yards.
Oh yes Huff is quite the hunte especially when it comes to crickets or grass hoppers.
Sometimes even lady bugs: (he wanted to eat it in this video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrOdHPnrB4g
Gosh, we have quite a list here: Murphy hunts cats, small children, baby strollers, bikes, motorcycles, squirells, snakes, small dogs, leaves blowing on the ground, lizards, turtles, balls, basically anything that moves on the ground.
Bella. on the other hand. hunts anything that fly's or hops through the air like crickets, birds, hot air ballons, airplanes, flies, mosquitos and all other creatures with wings.
Thankfully neither one of them are very good at following their instincts because I have yet to see them eat or come home with any of their prey. ( I won't tell Bella it's probably a waste of time to chase hot air balloons and airplanes if you won't, she seems so focused and confident in her pursuit, why spoil it for her?)
Our daughters doodle is afraid of them and they land in the park right behind their house. He goes crazy running to the fence, then back to the house, then to the fence, jumping, whining, barking all at the same time. You feel sorry for him he's so frantic. I even walked him over to it once one was deflated to smell and see the big hot air monster up close, but it hasn;t helped.
Bella, ha, she'd just jump into the gondola I'm sure!
