So the day I had picked out my wedding dress friend Jennifer and my Godmother came to try them on with me (since my mom and sister and grandmother live in Bermuda) and I found the perfect gown after trying on only 4 dresses (completely the opposite of what I had gone in for). When I was prancing around the store in the dress, my Godmother saw a necklace in their accessory case that might look nice with the gown so I tried it on and we ALLLLL loved it! Then when we asked how much it was ($400), I decided that was too scary of a price, but my Godmother insisted on buying it, saying it was her gift to me for my wedding day since it looked so perfect with the gown (this was the beginning of March 2011). In August (after my mom had been ill a couple months and stresses were high already, my Godmother decided to "have a stroke" as my mother really believes and go crazy for no reason at all. One day behind my back while she was talking to me about normal stuff, she called my fiance and told him I was selfish and told him all of these insane lies that I would never say or do (such as call her fat and tell her what she was allowed to eat and say awful things to her boyfriend [whom I like and got along with great)...NEVER in a million years would I dream of saying something like that to ANYONE, not even the nasty girls that bullied me in middle school and high school! I was going to ignore it thinking maybe she was just stressed about my mom being ill too and needed to vent and take something out on me because I was close, but then she started posting things on her facebook wall about me...I am no longer in high school and don't wish to go back to those days, so I asked her about what was going on and she told me that what she said was true (she was determined to believe this) and told me that I was going to regret doing what I did (didn't do anything) and basically told me to have a nice life and thanked me for ruining her 30 year friendship with my mom (which I again haven't and would never...). I cut communication with her because I wasn't going to argue and defend myself against things that never happened and thought it was completely inappropriate that she would call my fiance and say those things in the first place, but I have been respectful to her when it has come to my mom and give her updates when she has asked and whatnot...
Not thinking anything about my necklace, I didn't pick it up because the wedding store is far away and was just going to wait until it came in with my dress, so yesterday when I went to see my dress and get the flower girl fitted, I asked if I could have my necklace to try on with my dress and the girl came out and said "It is here (because they special ordered it) but the person that paid for it cancelled her credit card payment of it and wanted it "returned". So 6 months after she bought me a gift, she took it back and now I am stuck with the task of finding another perfect necklace! (My cousin offered her's but it is small and simple so just not as "statement-y" as I would like since the dress is so simple and it is strapless)
Here is a photo of the gown with the old perfect necklace (John never comes on here so he wont see this! lol)
and here are some choices I thought could be potentials from online:

Oh and this is my cousin's wedding necklace:
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions you have! I had to vent the story because I was so flustered yesterday when the visit to the wedding store brought all the drama back!
Clarification: My Godmother didn't legitimately/medically have a stroke...it is what my sick mother said when I told her how my Godmother was acting and the things she was saying about me...my mom is not in the same state of mind and she really believed that maybe my Godmother had a stroke at the time. I would have said she went "psycho (bad word)" but stroke was more polite. lol

wow, I LOVE this one. Pick this one!!!!
I really like this one a lot!
Yah she didn't actually have a stroke...so in my mind she has no excuse because even if she was stressed because my mom is sick and she lost it...it is MY mom so I think I have more of a right to be stressed and snappy than she does.
Sue, I just realized your message links to this necklace that combines the Honora pearls and Swarovski crystals!

Very, very pretty in the white pearls and clear crystals! Great suggestion!
Oh boy! Next obstacle is my hairstyle! I am very "blah" with my hair...always pretty much straight and down. Like this:
And the only time I had my hair in a more formal updo is for my cousin's wedding, but everyone is saying that looks too young and prom-y...though it may be the fact that I LOOK YOUNG since I was 19 at the time!
And now everyone is suggesting hairstyles that are TOO bridey and Cinderella like for my tastes!
The only thing I can find that I "like" in a photo is this one:
But I am still not convinced since I don't have THAT much hair!
Any suggestions?
That's sort of what I was thinking for my wedding this Summer - basically just a little bit of curl with some of the hair pulled back from the face. I'm like you - straight hair with a bit of layering, all I do in the morning is brush it!
Something like this:
or this (probably more realistic with thinner hair)
Oh I do like this second photo here...is there like a little braid there too?
I think so - I think it's a loose braid that comes together and is pinned together in the middle - could be decorated with a flower or something.
I really love the last hairstyle you posted. It's so pretty, and a good option for half-up hair. I think you look really great with all-up hair, and if you do decide to go that route rather than half up/half down, you could consider a low bun. I think it's much less "prom" like. Also, with an all-up style you don't have to worry about your curls falling out by the end of the night.
I love this hairstyle and I think it would look really pretty with bangs too.
Oh, this is a hard one. Personally, I have never been one to like pulled back hair or in some cases...skinned back like the Kardashians like to do!!! I like softness around the face, even if it is tendrils or curls. Half up and half down is a great compromise but still with some tendrils around the face. From what I can tell in the photos I tend to like the last photo best. I'm sure there can be a compromise with the thickness or lack of thickness of your hair to achieve the same look. It also depends on the vail and what you are using to secure it and where. Some secure them in the back and some more in the front. Some have lots of bling and some are very simple as my daughters was. I posted her photo earlier. Mine was in the 70s so I had a huge flat bow...ha ha. My niece (brother's daughter) just got married in September and she didn't wear a vail. As you can see it was an outdoor wedding...absolutely gorgeous wedding even though it had rained. She has long hair but it is thin. She had a hair piece in there somewhere and she looked beautiful.
