I'm an empty nester too but may not really because i always consider a empty nester to be sad. I'm not at all sad. not that i don't love my kids but i'm liking this time of my life. I really like being to be able come and go as I please and most of all i enjoy these young adults that i've raised so much. Also, since i work part time this is such a wonderful time to raise these puppies. Fergie came last year and her sister, Ginger, is coming in three weeks. I have alot of time for them and it shows. My neighbors continually comment on how good Fergie is. I did have a dog prior to Fergie. I had one for 18 years in fact. Noone commented how good Betsy was because noone had the time to put into her as a puppy. Dogs take time and the empty nest time is the best. Tomorrow we're going to some obedience classes (during the day) so that she can be certified for a good companion dog or something like that. I know she'll breeze right thru these classes. Then we can go visit hospitals and stuff. What better breed of dog is there to do that. How could anyone not smile when they take just look at these dogs. I truly do love this breed. I'm getting wordy now. Have a nice day.
Hi, What a great idea for a group! Parris was also my Empty Nest solution. We got Parris 1 month before my daughter left for college 2 yrs ago. I am so glad she is in my life. We are so lucky to have our doodles!!
Here is a picture of the first time I held Parris.
This is fantastic! My husband Jack and I are empty nesters. We never really felt it because we had "Buddy" our beautiful soft coated wheaton terrior. Then last October on the 15th, Buddy suddenly passed away-he was fine one day and gone the next. We were heartbroken and went through the motions of life, still working, eating and sleeping but the house was SO empty. After six weeks of this horrible pain, we brought home Thomas. We take him to dog parks, training classes, and have so much time for him. We never had the time to do this with our other dog, we were too busy taking our two boys to hockey all winter and lacrosse all summer. Now we have the time to spend with this sweet dog. Our two boys come home all the time, just to see the dog, so they can bond with him and get to know him as part of the family. It has been great! Here is a picture of Buddy in my empty nester Mustang convertable and then one of the new puppy taken the day he arrived home. I'll get one of him too in the convertable once it gets warm enough!!!
Great Idea vacation has done you well!!!!! My house is never quite since Zoey arrived to keep Ozzy company..and no fighting like my children use to do LOL
