Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I had such a hard time naming our doodles. DH and I had our childrens names picked out while we were dating, so we never really agonized over it like I have the doodles. Then one day I realized I could change the dogs names anytime I wanted, as it's not like they have a Legal Birth Certificate or anything. Or I'd have to go to Court to get it changed.
I am seeing SO many dogs named Bella and I have never been the type to follow suit just because it was popular in anything. It bothers me a tad that it is so common. Who knew?
I think she would come to just about anything I called her. I tried "Come here Doggy" the other day and she came.
No, I wouldn't name her "Doggy" but you get the point.
So I am just tossing around some new names but do you think she'd have an identity crisis if I were to change it? Would she even care or notice? Just a thought.

I've wavered between Sophie and 'Sophie Bear'. I originally wanted to go with Sophie Bear but people were like "really?". It did feel kind of cheesy, but she's cute like a little bear so I thought it was fun. Then I went to just Sophie, then some people said "why are you giving her a human name??". That's when I realized I couldn't win and it didn't matter what anyone things anyway. So she is my Sophie Bear and that's that. That being said, I call her "doodle" "monkey" "munchkin" "sweetie pie" and a ton of other stuff. She likes 'Monkey', responds to it every time ;-) I don't think it matters what you call your doodle, as long as you do it with a smile in your voice.
I think Bella is pretty, but eventually I'd probably end up turning it into 'Belly' and the "Belly Bear' or 'Jelly Belly' and on and on...
We should do a seperate post on doodle nick names. I'd love to hear what some of the others are calling their doodles.
Roon E Doodle or just Doodle
What would be a nick name for Stuart? Hmmm - don't know.
