As Ragley and I have progressed in her training (next step- CGC!) and moved toward more distraction training and generalizing behaviors into all environments, I have noticed that our normal "training treat gumbo" that I have available is not of high enough value to interest her in the new settings (public parks, etc.). I consulted my trainer about it and she recommended 1. not undervaluing my praise- I think the Doggy Dan stuff should help with this! and 2. try to find a higher value treat that may be more appropriate for the more complex environment behaviors I am asking of her.

We usually use soft and chewy Buddy Biscuits broken into smaller pieces and hot dogs. She doesn't seem to have too much interest in cheese so that doesn't work for us.

I'm looking for that super-duper-awesome-gotta-have-it kind of treat. This is not for a generic I-love-you-so-much-here-have-a-treat situation.

Any crowd favorites that your doodles would do anything for?

Lamb lung treats. They're doggy crack. Merrick and Primal both make them.

And freeze dried 100% liver treats, they stink but are also a very, very high value treat.

I didn't see this until after I posted, but I agree, crack is a good name for the way our dogs act over them!! :)

Orijen freeze dried liver treats make Maddie almost turn herself inside out for one :)
George goes crazy for most any treat, but when we were in our last obedience class one of the pup parents were using pupperoni, and her poor dog always dropped it. George is quite the scavenger and we had to get really good at our "leave it" command. We did this with a combination of orijen regional red freeze dried treats (she loves every flavor, but these seem to really entice her) and cloud star tricky trainer liver flavor treats. I would put both of them in a sandwich bag and try to alternate, if we did one treat or the other she seemed to get bored or distracted.

OMG, Pupperoni. Contains at least 5 ingredients that are on the Dog Food Project's Ingredients to Avoid list, including an artificial preservative that has been linked to cancer in both animals and humans. Good job on the "leave it" commands, lol!

Stella and Chewys freeze dried raw salmon and cod are my boys current favourite!! They stink though!!

Cheese!!!

Freeze dried lamb lung or liver. Our dogs go NUTS over them!

Not recommending this but I just have to share this story. When we go for our walks we often meet a gentleman walking his two huskies. He always has a pocket full of Milkbone dog biscuits. The dogs were always off leash and it looked like Quincy was running to greet them, just as he reached them he would detour around them and go sit directly in front of their owner to get a treat. It was really funny and I made sure he only got a half one. We don't walk that way much anymore but I'm sure he'd still remember and do the same thing. Freeze dried liver has always been a big hit at our house too although we don't use many treats.

Pure Bites Freeze Dried Beef Liver Treats! Both doodles will do anything for those!

Hi. I am a brand new doodle (and puppy) mom.  Kenzie is doing fantastic at training @ eight weeks old and in our home less than a week.  She is motivated by praise for potty and al dente fresh green beans, diced apples and broken pieces of PRIMAL dried freeze liver munchies (pink/lavender bag) for all other training.  She also loved the Blue Buffalo blueberry and yogurt kibble treats but our vet is not recommending this brand due to crystallization of urine issues that they have seen by patients using the BB dog food.  Another doodle owner in the neighborhood suggested we try Stella and Chewys products.

Chance's "I'll do most anything for it" treat is Blue Bits savory salmon treats, made by the Blue Buffalo Company.
