Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
A couple of weeks before people are scheduled to pick up their darling doodle, I send out a "puppy pick up packet" It has everything from crate training to what to bring with you when you take your pup home for the first time. Included in that list is towels, wet wipes, paper towels, and plastic bags to deposit the throwup etc that you may well encounter on the way home
After a long day it was finally time to drive the 75 mile trip to get my new moyen poodle puppy. I hop in the car and off I go without a single thing from my list.
Lucky for me the breeder asked and was nice enough to supply with me with the needed supplies. Puppy did great for 73 miles. It was the last three miles of winding mountain roads that did the trick.
Thank you Liz, for the towels.
Now, all I need is a name for this boy. Something to go with his kennel name of music box.
Anyone have any suggestions and let hear your own "first ride home" stories.

I was prepared for Shelby's first ride home (about 2 hours). I put her in the crate with a blanket with my scent, and a blanket with the scents of her mom/littermates/breeder and a toy. I had towels and some water for clean up. My friends and I hit the road with Shelby (who whined for the first 2-3 minutes, but then settled in for the ride home. Shelby did great, didn't potty or get sick.... however the human required 2 potty breaks! :o)
I'd love to see a photo of your new family member! Poor little guy, I can relate because those winding roads can make me a little queasy at times too!
How about naming him after a composer? Haydn, Bach, Amadeus, Mozart???
Oh Congrats! We need pictures for name inspiration ;)
Agree, we need pictures. These are some up with in the name dept were Maestro, Schroeder, Jazz, Lennon and Dylan.
Maestro is a great suggestion! It reminds me of the Seinfeld episode. heehee. Maybe an instrument would be a fun name: Trumpet, Flute, Cello... ?
I'd call him Oboe. I will be back with my driving home story tomorrow
Juke? like Juke box lol?
Dancer? as in Music Box Dancer
How about Allegro (meaning "at a brisk tempo") - just imagine those zoomie moments...
