I just got back from taking Brewster to his first (with me) vet visit. He was weighed (30.8 lbs. @ 14 weeks), given his rabies and bordatella shots, a kennel cough preventitive, and 3 mos. of heartworm preventitive. Vet says he's healthy, just the right wieght, and will probably be a big boy! She also expressed his glands as they were full and smelly. Yuck...but better her than me! LOL

All in all it was a great visit, Brewster wasn't scared at all (but did NOT, however, like having his glands popped, poor guy!) and I feel good about the vet. Since I take him to the local Humane Society Clinic, I may not get the same vet all the time, but I don't think that'll be a problem. As long as he's familiar with the clinic and gets along with all the people he should be fine. Brewster has an appt. mid November to get neutered and microchipped, and will get his licence then, too. I like the Clinic because it is cheaper than a reg. vet and the proceeds go toward the shelter.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share. Yay for healthy Doods!

The bordatella vaccine is the kennel cough vaccine, lol, so most likely the shots were rabies and parvovirus.
I'm glad you and Brewster had a great first vet visit! If you use a professional groomer in the future, they should express his anal glands as part of the regular grooming.
Oops! You're right! He had two shots and the nasal thingy-which was the kennel cough. He's gone to Petsmart once for grooming. He got the puppy package, but I don't think it includes anal glands. The regular adult grooming does, though, so I will be sure to use it!! :)
Wow, 30.8 lbs @ 14 weeks is a good weight for Brewster. I was just packing up a few things in my den as we are moving tomorrow and found my GD, Thomas' weight chart. At 14 weeks he weighed 26.7 lbs. Get ready for a big boy -because at 10 1/2 mths old, our boy now weighs 80 lbs. and is still growing. He is very long. tall, and is just starting to fill out now. I am sure you will love every inch of your Brewster as much as we love our Thomas. I would post a recent phot but our monster chewed on the cord that attaches my camera to our computer- no worky anymore!!! Packed the camera too- so I will have to describe him; HUGE puppy with enormous paws that he still hasn't grown into to. Breeder guessed that he would be 55 - 60 lbs. LOL So happy Brewster is a healthy happy boy from Debbie and Thomas Doodle
