Yes, I do think the dogs's magical thinking goes something like this. Calla has scared off innumerable villains but she loves the mailman, who treats the digs.

F, We had an English Setter who would jump a four foot fence to greet the mailman with love. She only jumped the fence for him. Cute that Calla loves yours too.

Now that we moved the dogs can see out the front windows. They are busy barking and we are busy saying, "No Barking!" I think we should be saying, "Thank you for saving us from certain death." Maybe they will stop if we use better phrasing.
