We just got to Cape Cod a few days ago and the ticks are worse than ever! We left Southwest Florida to escape the summer's heat and were happy to be saying goodbye to those toxic bufo toads, but now we face an overabundance of ticks. Just venting, that's all. Arrrggghhh!

I had to google bufo toad. Yikes, who knew, they sound like something to stay away from if you have dogs. I don't know Laurie, between, hurricanes, tornadoes, fufo toads and alligators, not sure I would want to live there.

We trapped several of them and one was so large that it filled a gallon-size zipper bag. So disgusting and So dangerous.

We spent 3 months in West Palm Beach and not 1 tick on either Oliver or Ivy.  We've been home for about a month now and we are picking ticks off both dogs, us and furniture!!!

Did you have any run-ins with those toads?

Did you put tick repellent on them? I live in the Northeast and use the Seresto collar or Advantix II and all of my dogs have the yearly Lyme vaccine. You can't be up here without some protection!

I use Frontline Gold on both dogs.  It seems like the ticks go on the dogs but rarely attach.  I'm guessing that they hop off because of the Frontline and end up on the furniture and then on us :(

They're protected, but those ticks are determined. It's just so time-consuming -- good thing my two are blondes.

Fortunately, no run in's with the toads.  I've seen them in my gardens in the front of the house but my pups don't go out in the front :)  Lighter coloring definitely helps with the ticks :)
