We all have wondered when we first got our little puppies, how big they will be when they are full grown and I know I asked the same question about 2 years ago when Murphy was a pup and growing by leaps and bounds the first 5-6 months.

So here a lot of us are, 1 1/2 and 2 years later.....SO HOW BIG ARE THEY?

Did you or the breeder guess correctly?

Did the 4 months weight times 2  + approx 10 pd's formula work for you?

Is it what you expected?

Murphy's breeder, April, told me he would be about 60-65 pds when he was full grown, Mom was 60 pds, Dad about  45 pds.

 Murphy was 27 pds at 4 months old.  (27 x 2 + 10 = 54-64)

Murphy is almost 3 yrs old and has been aprrox 60 pds since 16 months old and has held steady at 62-64 pd's since he was about 18 months.

Show's you what April knows too :)

Bella's parents were about the same sizes, and April's guess is the same again 60-65 #'s.

Bella was 29 pds at 4 months.

And now at 14 months is about 60 pds. She still has some room to grow, but her 4 month formula would put her around 58-68 pds, so we'll see in a few months,

So they are both exactly what I was told and expected.

So how does your full grown doodle(s) weigh in?

Phoebe is just over 2.5 years and our breeder estimated was that she would be about 60 lbs and, at our last visit, she was 56.4 lbs--just perfect!

Bruno was 27.8 lbs at 4 months and is 51.8 st 13 months. Thinking he still has some growing to do, although it has slowed way down.

Sounds just like Murphy. Growth slows down quite a bit after 13 months. Sounds like Bruno will fit the 4 month formula perfectly though
Monty is from standard poodle dad, english retriever mom.  The breeder estimated him to be around 50-65 pounds.  He is currently 68 at just over 2 years old.
Banjo (the supposedly mini goldendoodle) did follow the 4 month rule....he is now (at 21 months) 45 lbs.   His dad - a mini poodle weighed in at 17lbs.    The breeder expected that litter to mature to 30-35lbs!    We love our big lug just that much more!
Interesting that so many of our doodles are following the 4 month formula. I always read it was pretty true for most dogs.

The breeder told me Darwin would be under 60lbs. His mother was 60, his dad was 45. At 16 weeks he was 25lbs, so x2 and up to 10lbs he would be 60...

Darwin now weighs between 63 and 65lbs, and he's very trim, so he could probably gain a little bit more and still be healthy. Not an exactly correct prediction, but I think it was pretty close.

Gavin's breeder predicted 65-70 lbs.

At four months he was 30 lbs x 2 = 60 + 10 = 70 expected weight

At six month he was 56 lbs (I was getting worried we would have a heavy weight on our hands)

At seven months he was 63 lbs (more worried)

But then he stopped.  He was sick a couple of times and dipped down to 61lbs but he has been holding steady at 66lbs for the past year.  He is very tall and thin at 29 inches as the shoulder.

Both the breeder and the formula were right with Gavin.

Daisy weighs 65 lbs and has since she was 18 months. This pans out right on the money of what the books say about the 4 month formula, the breeder was off by 10 lbs, she said 50 to 55 lbs.

We love her size, not too big not too small.

Daisy is perfect!
Webber weighed 18.6# at four months and at 3 years 10 months he is 45-46#.  I don't remember what the breeder predicted; I may not have even asked.  I recall she told me he would be a small standard.  He is 22.5" tall. The formula works for him. Seda was 19# at 4 months and is now @18 months she weighs 37#. She is a medium at 18.5 inches tall.  According to the formula she should weigh 48#.  Unless she is going to pork up in the next couple of months it is not working for her. I can't imagine her weighing more than Webber who is about 4 inches taller.
