Gas leak . . . sick doodle?

Yesterday I had a massive headache, Bodi and DH were fine. This morning I still had the headache - until I got to school - then it went away . . . when I got home I smelled gas. We called the gas company and waited out in the OHIO COLD for him to come. We have a gas leak and we are SAFE as the gas has been turned off.

Bodi did NOT eat this morning and did NOT eat this afternoon. Sometimes he skips meals, but usually when his big brothers are home from college giving him extra treats. So I wasn't too concerned. Then I gave him a few pieces of spaghetti (plain) and he threw those up with some very YELLOW liquid. Could he be sick from the gas?? Do I need to do anything? Our emergency vet place doesn't have a good rep. . . . so I'm waiting to hear from the experts - you!!

BTW Bodi is acting perfectly normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh how scary! Glad you are all ok. I too would be hesitant to go to the vet, especially the Emergency vet as they are so expensive. I just got insurance though, and reading your story I kept thinking how much easier that decision to go or not to go would be knowing that 80% of the cost would be covered by insurance.

I have heard that pets suffer far more from carbon dioxide and gas poisoning because the gases start low at their level and they take longer to get higher to affect people, therefore the pets are exposed for a much longer period than that of the humans. It is becoming law to have carbon dioxide monitors in our homes as well as fire alarms.

That makes sense to me. I also think it would affect them more because they are smaller, just like children, and it wouldn't take as much exposure for them to be affected as it would an adult human.

UPDATE! The vet's office said fresh air was the most important thing - which we did, and careful observation - which we did. Lots of worries (as always) but Bodi is doing great!
