Well said, Barbara!!

Thanks Laurie.....  when I see situations like this it just makes me so mad !!!!   Arrrrgggghhhh

Sadly I think it's a sign of the times, and what does it teach the children when the parents relinquish a family dog because they just "don't have time" for him.

i wish that there were formal training before having children.........and dogs of course.......

We live in a disposable society...unfortunately most people are so self involved they don't think of the welfare of others or animals.

My family was split in 1/2 with a divorce, my mother loved her pets as children, my father cared for his animals (hunting dogs) but they were not part of the family, they lived in a nice kennel and were well fed but they were dogs. I was raised by my Father but Mom saw to it that I loved our pets, including the kenneled ones.

Once I moved in with my Mom at 12 my Father remarried, their kids are not like me, they can take or leave a dog. One brother has Golden Retrievers and they live outside in a kennel. They are loved and fed and well socialized but they do not come in the house :o(, breaks my heart.

This is so true...we are truly in a disposable society.  I've had certain family members tell me that when I have my baby (I'm 4 months pregnant), if "things don't work out" with the baby and my dogs, they would take one of my dogs.  LOL I could only laugh in their faces!  It infuriates me that they would even assume I'd ever give up my dogs that I chose to bring into my home because I will soon be bringing a child into my home.  My dogs are my family and I'd never give them up, let alone separate them!!  And the way this certain family member suggested this was just so nonchalant.... lol quite frankly I wanted to smack her!

Ugh these make me so angry!!! And I love how they both say "A rehoming fee does apply."  So they are giving up their beloved pet to some random stranger via the internet and that random stranger is supposed to pay the irresponsible dog owner a fee!?!?

That's what makes me trust this stuff even less! They both say almost the same things and it just seems fishy to me! But I guess after watching the Craigslist killer movie, I am very suspicious of that website! lol

Definitely!  And the locations seem to be in the same area as well!

This summer I fostered a dog through DRC who was originally posted on Craigslist.  I kept in contact with the former owners throughout the adoption - they truly did not realize there were breed specific rescues that would foster the doodle and find him a great home; they loved him but did not make the time for his needs.  Once they found out about DRC they were so grateful of the love, time and attention we gave to Bruneu and finding his forever family.  Sometimes it is just ignorance of the options.

When I see them I usually reply with the rescue groups info but they are looking for the $ also so they usually don't go that route. It's so sad. There are so many people that would love to have a doodle. Call it a loss and get them to a good family or rescue and forget the cash!
