Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I am a member of a Goldendoodle Facebook page called "Goldendoodles of New England" and I am at my wits end!!!

So many posts about grain-free food and DCM. Everyone posting on how they are switching their dog from foods like Zignature to Purina Pro Plan!!

Do I just ignore everything and say "hey, it's not my dog...they can feed their dog whatever they want"???

I know I should LET IT GO but it is just so frustrating!!!

That's exactly what I do.

I just blocked my very first person from facebook. Nothing that I do voluntarily should be that stressful!

I joined FB because of doodle rescue and I felt I needed to be on FB to keep up with our rescue group.  I do enjoy sharing my photos with those in the photos - like our bike rides and the romps.  I enjoy the funny stuff some people post, especially about aging ladies :-}, and the lipsync challenges law enforcement  or some other groups - one was a shelter have posted.  That's pretty much it.  I think so many of the dk members abandoned doodle kisses for FB (maybe they think it is easier or has a wider audience for them), and I am truly sad about that. FB has it's uses but mostly it is for morons.

People abandoned DK for FB because of smart phones, IMO.

Smart phones do make easier access.  Until I got a Smart phone I didn't understand that the dk format was difficult. It's very easy and simple on a computer, but it isn't on a phone.  I know that Adina was going to update dk to a format that was easier for phones and tablets (and maybe she did before I owned a Smart Phone) but it is much less user friendly from a phone.  I'm just old and prefer a bigger screen and a mouse.  But the way you can follow a discussion or 'control' a discussion is so much better here than on FB.  The members - some of us ARE morons LOL, but we are caring morons and really want to share our expertise, our personal experiences, our knowledge to help and educate others.

Hahaha, I don't use my "smartphone" for anything other than making calls and texts. Its just too darn small and id like to keep the eyesight I have left.

Nancy, I kept it for the same reason. Most days I want to scream and I swear Im giving up FB but then I think about some of the dogs I have been able to help because I was on FB. I never would have known Annie was out there if not for FB.

Yup!  I am one of those obsessive people who must clear my inbox daily so I use my phone for much of that  and it's mostly unread.  My grand kids are shocked when I tell them I have no games on my phone, no streamed movies etc. My easy granddaughter will borrow it to access some silly riddle/joke website and entertain us when we drive by asking us the stupidest riddles - the ones that were hilarious when you were a kid.....

My students think I'm a dinosaur because I don't text much and I don't use stuff like snapchat and Instagram.  I have a very bare bones phone plan with no data.  I have wifi at home and work where I mostly use Skype chat or Facebook messenger to send messages.

Young adults these days are so glued to their phones... they make faces like I've physically wounded them when I tell them to put their phones away for an hour until halfway through class.  I promise their friends will be ok without communicating for an hour but they don't believe me!  They also don't believe me when I tell them the distraction makes it harder to learn...

Hi Nancy,

I don't stream movies or play games on my phone either.  I  don't engage in social media very often on FB or any other.  As was stated people will raise their pets and children they way they want.

I am in a nutrition class and so many people  make comments or remarks because I've changed my eating habits.  I live in the south and we are used to southern cooking. I've  always tried to research the best brands of dog food for our dogs.  Some people just don't. It could be economics and it could be just unwillingness to change. It's the same with humans.

I believe when you learn better then you do better but not everyone feels this way.  There are some things here I've already learned that I didn't before.

Ugh!  I wish I had thought of "not following" instead of removing myself from the crazy FB groups, that way I could still creep for entertainment purposes...LOL!  I'm telling you the "Don't feed grain free people" are like a cult.  If you look at some of their profiles, you can tell that they are not legit people, they are probably fake accounts.

They're related to the anti vaccination people. Look, I try to be respectful of different beliefs. But the facts that they are spewing are just so wrong. It's all fear-mongering and lack of science. And they are actually harming people with their make believe. But they've dug their heels in and decided and you can't reason with someone who has already decided. It's so frustrating. They won't listen to their actual doctor. But their next door neighbor standing there with a vaccine insert they don't understand? That person is an expert. None of these people remember measles, I don't. They don't remember people permanently disabled or living in an iron lung. I would rather not go back to that. But I know I shouldn't get on my soap-box here. It just worries me, this trend of group think without any facts to back it up.
