Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Looking to adopt an adolescent/adult Goldendoodle or Labradoodle into loving home; male or female. Maybe someone that has had circumstances come up that they can no longer keep one of these beautiful dogs, and are looking to place it into a new family. We had a Goldendoodle named Buck that was the love our family, but he is no longer with us. Your dog's new family would consist of three children, a big house with a fenced back-yard and a pool for summertime fun. Preferably housebroken and crate trained. Would be willing to travel up to 200 miles from Indianapolis for the exchange. Thank you.

John you might want to apply to adopt from one of two reputable rescue organizations: IDOG or Doodle Rescue Inc -- BOTH have links to their petfinder pages and current adoptable dogs listed on our front page.  Just scroll down and look in the middle column.  What is important to remember is that they have foster homes throughout the USA and it is more important that you place an application ASAP than that there is a dog listed that meets your needs right now.  That's because they get TONS of applications all the time and many dogs are adopted out before they are listed.  Also they each have different requirements as far as the age of children in the house before they adopt a dog out.  So please read through their criteria first, too.  Good luck in your search!

Thank you, Adina. I will look into these sites and complete an application.

Your home sounds like a dog paradise.  Adina gave you the Best Suggestions to reputable rescues.

May I caution you though, that most adolescent dogs don't always come with the perfect manners, potty trained, and just fit right into your home as soon as they arrive.   Your request is the Ideal Situation.

When you adopt a dog the first thing to do is meet with a trainer.  Both of you will start off on a much better foot if you BOTH are trained    Expect some accidents or manner adjustments until the dog has settled.  Adoption is a little bit of work on the families part and a Huge adjustment to a dog trying to learn his way in a new home.

Best Wishes to you and the dog you rescue   :)

Just put a woman from New jersey in touch with Doodle Rescue Collective about a 10 month old goldendoodle she is looking to place with a new family--I AGREE that many dogs in this situation will need training and it sounded like her dog certainly did. As a matter of fact, she didn't want him to go to a home with small children for fear that he would be knocking them down. DRC can foster a dog first and work on his manners, but there will still be work to do on the new owner's end. The DRC is great though and will certainly do everything they can to place a dog where he or she will be happiest. Good luck with your search...

Thank you all. Our last goldendoodle we got as a pup, so I do know there will be plenty of work on our end to get him/her adjusted, even if it is an older dog...but I also know all that effort pays off because they have such a wonderful temperament. I have uploaded some of our pictures of Buck, he was truly a member of our family and he has been missed. I think we are all now ready for a new friend to bring into our lives. I also found a site called petfinder.com that has a lot of rescue animals. I will keep checking on these sites and see what I can find. I think I am on the right track. Thank you all again.

John...if you have access to facebook look up the IDOG Rescue Labradoodle and Goldendoodle Rescue page.  We put links on the page not only for dogs in our program but also links to dogs in shelters across the country as we find them  listed on the internet.  Good luck on your search!

John,

I did want to add that I am very sorry for the loss of your doodle.  Sounds like he was such a great dog  you and your family want another.  Says a lot about Buck.

Thank you all for your kind words... as the pictures show, Buck was a wonderful dog we all loved.

Posting pictures of the newest member of our family, Bernie. We decided to go the puppy route and are soooo happy. We have a new goldendoodle named Bernie. We pick him up in a week, and it is going to be the longest week of our lives. Thank you to everyone for all you suggestions. More pictures to come... (Sorry, this may show up a couple of times... I think I was posting in the wrong area)

Congratulations on your new furry friend! And welcome to doodle kisses where everything you will ever want to know and more is available!
