What's the difference between a good and bad hair cut. We were recommended a groomer who was supposed to be good and a good bit cheaper and as we usually get Jasper's hair cut about every 6 weeks in the summer, this sounded good. But No we were very disapointed, they had shaved his face , his body was not neat.  Luckerly Hubby still had our clipper we used on Rusty and was able to tidy him up and we were surprised how still he kept when the clippers were on, so we have decided to clip him our selves and just send him to our former groomers once or twice a year. We were really pleased with his obedience while being clpped. sit stand and turn around were obeyed 'almost' immediately. Anyone else had a bad hair day.

It is great that you were able to clip him yourself. Lots of us have had nightmare grooming experiences and have decided to do our own grooming--check out the grooming group--you will see what others have said about grooming.

I groom both my doodles myself, the high prices in my area are just way too rediculous.  I am in no way a groomer but have the tools, tub and grooming table so it makes it much easier for me.  Its a learning process and I take baby steps... I dont want them to look bad.  Oliver I leave natural but Sasha is very poodley so I keep her shorter.  Sasha behaves better on the table than Oliver does, basically my little pricess lets me do anything to her where Oliver fusses a bit, he does not like his paws touched :(

I think most that do their own doodle have had a "Bad Hair Day"!'

Most of the time I am disappointed, not horribly but little things. The last time she did a fantastic job but she trimmed her beard off. the time before that she gave her a poodle poof head and defined her ears like a poodle. I have to remember to say EVERYTHING I want and don't want or that one thing will be wrong.

I thought they kept good records, the first time I went I took a sheet of do's and don'ts, it's like she never had it. The first time Daisy was beautiful, the last 2 times there was one minor thing wrong.

I can't do her myself, she is too big and no place to do it comfortably so I will just keep trying.

I think there are many, many DKer's who can relate to your experience. I highly recommend the Grooming Group. There is wonderful information on how to groom there. I decided to clip my own after the groomer I was using went from charging $60 in the summer to $120 six months later. I was dissatisfied with the grooming job and was not pleased with the price hike. I found my doodle to be incredibly cooperative as I groomed him, too. It takes a little practice but I have been happier with the clips I've given my dogs than any they got at the groomers and it is stress-free for my doodle boys.

I was a hairstylist in my las t life and the answer to your question: what is the difference between a good and a bad hair cut IS "two weeks" ! In doodle world, maybe four weeks if they are really shaved down but it grows back either way. It is nice to do it yourselves, so you might consider it. I always get the look I want and it's only about 3-4 times a year at most. And saves me about $500.00 a year with 2 of them. I'm sorry you're having a bad doodle hair day.

Well, here's the picture once again...can it get any worse??? BTW we said don't touch the head or face (always say that)

I'm able to clip Chloe but Myla's hair is way different and we have to take her in, It grows back!!!!

This does totally beat all Jennifer. What was the caption that one again?
