I have to admit to being a bit accident prone.  There was the time I broke my wrist whilst dancing in the kitchen holding a baby in my arms and then there was the broken nose whilst lifting second daughter off the toilet (door swung at me) but they were a long time ago.  This week I have had two (minor) accidents both while grooming Riley.  First off a fat lip, Riley turned suddenly and bopped me in the face.  He didn't feel a thing, I have a big lip and a bruise.  Second, today as I was combing him and came to a snag I pulled too hard and banged my fingers off the counter top, the prongs of the comb jammed into my fingers which are now bruised and bleeding... I have just ordered one of those arm things to clip to the table with a noose and am hoping that this will avoid further accidents!  I just wondered if any one else has had a brush with a brush?lol

Some of the thethers have a slide to adjust it to the neck hence "noose".
I have a grooming arm and a "noose". Haley will walk in circles on the grooming table to keep me from combing what ever part I am working on that he doesn't want combed!

I think it is helpful to have someone assist by holding the dog still...........now, if I could only find a volunteer!

I have had some blisters and nicks while grooming. Nothing serious.

I usually am wearing at least one bandaid by the time I've finished grooming mine. My scissors are like razor blades and I always seem to swipe them along a hand or get a finger too close to the blade. Scissor over comb is a safer method, but very time consuming , to me anyway. As long as no dog blood is shed, I'm okay with it. Now, if you want to talk about clumsy, I can tell you about my last 3 falls whilst ( love that word) running, with and without doodles! My nose and knees will never be the same!

Nicky you are not alone, I have cut myself with the thinning shears and stabbed myself with the brush. I have never cut Quincy and only once managed to cut one nail a little too short, so all in all I think we are doing well. I am finding that I am becoming more clumsy in my golden years. Whoever named them the golden years must have had severe memory problems, they should call them the rusty years. Hope those finger heal soon.

Sadly I have cut a few doodle nails too short. But I forgot the evil thinning shears. I have learned to be very careful getting the hair out that's stuck between the teeth.

Oh I have done the same. Mostly to Murphy as his nails are black and hard to see the quick. So now he has a knee jerk reaction everytime the nail clipper clicks on a nail. Doesn't help trying to cut a movig target. Bella just lays there like she's getting a well deserved pedicure. Rolls on her back for a belly rub while she's at it. But then I've never cut her nails too short, they are very light and the quick is very obvious.

LOL! I feel better now--I keep a stack of bandaids next to the grooming table and it looks like I am not alone--I cut myself all the time. I am usually lucky with the dogs not getting hurt, but I did snip a tiny piece of my own dog's paw pad off a few weeks ago....she didn't even feel it but was quite annoyed when I wrapped it up for few days to prevent her from licking it and opening it up again.

Ginny when I go to the groomer hairdresser they always make me a little nervous if they are wearing bandaid accessories.
