I've never used one, but if you put "furminator" in the search box, I know there have been discussions about it in the past.
Hi, yes I have one. It works great for my lab/shep x It gets the under fur that sheds so badly. You wouldn't beleive haw much dense fur is on the front legs!!! You would swear you are actually shaving the legs that's how much comes off of her.
Now with Neely our 5mth old gd I use a comb. He gets his bath and I just comb him out. He is starting to shed his puppy coat now and he will get the odd tat and it usually combs out with out a problem. I did use the furminator on his coat and it did nothing really. It was more difficult to drag thru his coat. It didn't seem to get down to the skin and no real shed came from it. I do think that for a dog with an under coat it is a great tool but with Neely and no under coat it isn't worth the money at all. It would be good for a cat as well.
The Furminator is NOT to be used on non-shedding coats. This warning is on the packaging information. It is a type of shedding blade. Here is the link for their website, in the FAQ section, with a list of breeds on which the Furminator should not be used, including Wheaten terriers, PWDs, and poodles.

whoa
thanx
my back doodle actually is shedding now, a very fine thin hair
Thanx for the heads up
I have an adult F1 who sheds quite heavily, and my groomer does use a Furminator on him when he gets groomed every 8 wks. In between, I remove a lot of the hair by brushing and then using a shedding rake, which is a very inexpensive tool you can buy at any pet supply shop. But for those whose doodles have a non-shed fleece or wool coat, the Furminator should never be used, it tears the coat.
I would say even a coat like Rosco's (which does shed, but is wavy and curly) isn't quite the right fit for a furminator.
My brother has one and it works great on his German Shepherd this time of the year when they are really shedding. It does say not to be used on Non sheeding dogs. I think it really works best on thicker coated dogs who shed all year round. There is another type of sheeding blade out and Im not certain where you would get it. I have one that is round, its actually has 3 round circles of blade to it, and was purchased where I take my dogs for training classes. They sell for $12.00 and do not tear up my dogs coats, I also use a matting rake, which I picked up at Pet Supplies Plus but have seen them eleswhere and run about $5 to $7.00. If you like I can scan it to a picture and post it later if you want to see it....
The furminator works great on Gunner, but he is NOT the typical doodle. He sheds alot. It doesn't work on the curlier ones, mostly non shedding. I think it would depend on the type of hair.

This is a pic of the round sheeding blade I have and use at times.
