When Fudge was groomed a couple of weeks ago, the groomer pointed out a small growth in Fudge's ear. It was small and looked like a skin tag. I didn't think anything about it at the time. Well, today her ear flapped back and I was shocked to see the tiny growth has more than doubled in size and I immediately called the vet. She has an appointment Wednesday. The growth looks like cauliflower and I have been online tonight and it looks like it might be called a sebaceous adenoma. What concerns me is that it says rapid growth could indicate something serious like cancer. I will try and post a picture tomorrow. Has anyone heard of this or has their dog had one of these growths?
UPDATE: We went to the vet tonight and she said the growth has to be removed surgically on Friday. She said most of the time these things are benign, but she has been wrong in the past, so she will not know until the biopsy is done. Thank you again for all of your concern. We all really appreciate all the kind words.
SECOND UPDATE: Fudge went in this morning for her surgery. She did great. They were able to just give her light anesthesia, but she is still acting punch drunk and is very tired. We will not have the results of the biopsy for about two weeks. On a side note, Vern drove with me to drop Fudge off and when I came back to the car, he was howling like a baby. When we picked her up, he was so happy to see his Fudge and was very gentle and loving. He checked her out with his sniffer and made sure she was ok. Very sweet.

I hope everything turns out OK. I haven't had any experience with this. I will keep Fudge in my prayers. Please update us. Sending pawsitive thoughts your way.
Jack had a small growth at the base of his tail that looked something like what you're describing, only flesh colored. I would describe it as looking like a chewed piece of gum stuck to his rump. I did the same thing you're doing, googling and making myself crazy finding all kinds of horrible things it could be, including cancer. It was biopsied and removed, and it turned out to be some odd type of mole. Totally benign and harmless.
I know it's hard, but try to be calm and optimistic until you see the vet. I hope it's just as harmless as JD's growth was.
