I was just wondering are dogs like children?....when my daughter is about to have a "growth spurt" she eats like...well like she has never been fed. Eat....eat....eat. And then boom she grows. Well, Astro is acting as if we don't feed him at all. Mind you....he eats about 5 cups of food a day. So, no he is not starving. And yes, he is big 77lbs. His big ole nose is suddenly at the dinner table, suddenly sniffing everything food related in the kitchen and eating anything consumable in the yard. I'm afraid our cat might be next. So, should I expect an Astro growth spurt soon?
Yvonne, This is an ongoing discussion at my house as my doodle would eat till he vomits! I just think some REALLY like food more than others. I think on days he's more active he tends to "look" more hungry. But growth spurts I haven't heard of, but I am far from an authority. Maybe the Food Group has more on this. Keep an eye on that cat. ;o)
Peri has started doing this too! Now she is 1/3 the size of her buddy Astro, but still. She puts her paws on the counters now to check out what's cookin'. What in the world??? This is a totally new development. And I could feed her 4 cups a day and she would probably eat each one....
I don't know if Astro can grow much more (shouldn't jinx you though!).
Timbow eats like this too, but doesn't seem to be growing too much (although he still has a lot of loose skin). It could just be the retriever in them that makes them eating machines. I wouldn't feed Astro too much more. He has enough junk in his trunk. Lol. Plus if he grows too much more, you will have to get rid of at least 1 family member just to have room. Haha.
I don't know, but Darwin goes through certain periods when he acts much hungrier than others. They seem pretty random, but perhaps it is related to rate of growth?
OK - you should have just seen me read that - took me 5 times to realize you are talking about your daughter's bff. LOL I was thinking "who is my bff? Peri??"
