Rosco seemed fine once he got there according to Clark, but he freaked me out in the past hour. He was acting like he was either going to barf or scoot his butt, but it was neither. Although I couldn't see anything weird going on in his belly it was like there was a heavy weight somewhere low in his abdomen and he couldn't stand up. I immediately feared bloat. I kept calling his name, panicked. Then he got up but his legs weren't quite on board and he only managed to turn around and walk a few steps...and he ended up on laying down on his belly again...eyes made him look zoned and drooled a bit. Tail continued to wag though...super odd. By the time Clark emptied out the back of his Volvo, he got up and looked ready to go outside on his own, but Clark picked him up and rushed him to the vet. Apparently he was back to normal by then but they are observing him.
At first I thought bloat but his zoned look toward the end sounded seizure like...but neither fit what I'd imagine them to look like. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
Send some prayers his way! Hoping it was a weird nothing.
Okay just heard from the vet before I hit the button to post. She said that everything checked out fine and the only thing the blood work showed was that his electrolytes were off...as though he'd recently been barfing. He had eaten lunch in the past hour but I have no idea if he may have thrown up outside..he seemed fine when I'd called him in not long before the episode. So she wants to watch him more and give him some anti nausea meds to keep him from throwing up more and messing up his electrolytes further. Thanks for thinking of Rosco!

F, what goes into the bloat kit?
Glad to hear Rosco is doing ok. Will be thinking of you guys and keep us posted.
I would have been terribly frightened too from the sound of his symptoms. Praying for healing and knowledge that the vet can give you some answers and hoping the best for Rosco.
Oh, I am so sorry for you and for Rosco. I hope this was really nothing and that he is back to his mellow self by tomorrow.
Just read the original post and update... I'm so glad Rosco is okay!! Maybe he was just so nauseous (can dogs get dizzy too?) that he couldn't manage to stand up?? Stella gets carsick and she basically freezes up in the car when she is nauseous. Poor guy. I hope he continues to get better! Keep us posted. Seamus and Stella send their love!!
Messed up electrolytes will do that. Hope once he is buffed up Roscoe continues to be just fine.
Paws crossed and putting Roscoe in our nightly doodle prayer chain. That must have been scary but glad he's doing better and I hope you'll have your boy home soon. Maybe he's already back. Hope so.
Hugs and prayers to all of you and especially Rosco!
