Today is Halas' 6th birthday! I can't believe how fast the time has gone! I'm so lucky that this fuzzy little dood is part of my life.
We're spending the day celebrating. I gave him some scrambled eggs this morning, and then we went to the creek to hike. We haven't been since before his lipoma removal, but it was a little disappointing. There isn't really much of a creek at all right now. The sections that are normally deep enough for him to swim only had a few inches of water in them. The rest of the creek was dry. But we still did a lot of walking, and then went along the trail for a little bit. I rinsed him off and combed him when we got home, and now we're resting. Barley and Grammy are coming over in a few hours for a birthday dinner. It will be the usual - salmon, asparagus, and sweet potato.
Happy Birthday, Halas! I love you!
UPDATE 9/2/13
Halas says thanks for all the birthday wishes! When Grammy and Barley came over, we decided to go to Petco. Barley got the Hide-A-Bee toy. Halas got some replacement bees for that same toy, even though he doesn't have the Hide-A-Bee. He has several of the Hide-A-Thing toys, but I knew he would like the replacements. We also picked up some doggy ice cream for them. First, we let them have the ice cream:
Then Halas tried to hog all of the bees, and spent most of the rest of the night playing keep-away from Barley:
Then it was dinner time. As promised, it was salmon, asparagus, and sweet potato:
Followed by a little more keep-away:
After Grammy and Barley went home, Halas was pretty wiped out. He was fast asleep on the sofa when I told him it was time for bed. I said, "Want to go night-night?" And he jumped up, grabbed all three of his bees, and ran upstairs to bed:
