As many of you know I do some foster parenting for Second Chance Animal Rescue in MN. This is the same organization that introduced me to my wonderful Sophie.
Below are some pictures of a male that I will likley be fostering starting on Monday.
He is an 80lb male that is about one year old. He will be neutured hopefully early next week and available for adoption thereafter. I met him today and snapped a couple pictures. I have been told that he is very sweet and that he's "just a happy goofball" He was very friendly and loved every bit of attention I gave him. He is very food motivated, and sat for a treat, but needs training. It seems that he has not had much in the way of obedience training. He got along great with another male dog today. I will know much more about him and his personality come next week.
Please let me know if you or anyone else is interested in adopting this handsome fella!
Oh my gosh.. what a hunny! Originally they were calling him Murdock, but he didn't really respond to that so II named him Murphy. He seems to know his name pretty well already. He does come when called much of the time, but we're working on consistancy. ! He knows sit and high five with both paws but needs alot of practice with his aim cuz he's such a wiggly big pup who loves to play. So far he is sooo gentle- takes treats gentle and doesn't jump up so far. He is very thin- underweight and needs to gain some weight! HE LOVES FOOD but actually chews it which is nice.
He gets along great with my gril Sophie who tends to be on the dominant side- more of an alpha. She actually seems to love him and they love to play together. They slept in my bedroom on the floor all night and didn't bother each other once. I woke up to them playing.
Sophie snapped at him once- I was eating and he just stood about 4 feet away from me staring, didn't move just stood there. He walked toward me and she snapped at his mouth a bit- He didn't do anything- just walked away like "oops- sorry, I'll just go over here then". They get along great!
He has a great personality- doesn't seem dog agressive of food agressive at all. Needs some work on obedience, but he's a handsome dood. IDid well with a bath last night once we got him into the tub- he was scared to go in there. Once he was in, he just stood there.
He also know what "good boy" means. When you say it- he wiggles and wiggles and wiggles...
If the first 24 hours is any measure of what he will be like- he'll be an awesome friend to someone!
My Jack was relinquished to a private shelter by his original owner when he was 14 months old; he was also intact, and not UTD on his vet care. The shelter had him vetted and neutered the day after he was relinquished.
They are such lucky people to have found Murphy. For some reason I feel sad though too. The poor guy has been moved around quite a bit in the last few days and now he has gone to his new family. It just makes me want to cry- I just can't help it. But I am SOOO happy for him.
