In one week we will pick up our second golden doodle. Our first girl is 10 months old and named Daisy. We have been trying to come up with a flower name for the new girl too. This is what we've narrowed it down to: Iris, Maggie (short for magnolia) and Sugar or sugarbush. Yes, sugarbush is a real shrub that blooms with clusters of white flowers. Before Daisy came home we were leaning toward Lily for her.....but after we spent a weekend with her it was clear she was "Daisy".
So who do you think this looks like ?...........Iris, Lily, Maggie, Sugar....? or ??????????
So I have read through the multitude of options, and I think I like Rhoda, but I also like adding middle names if you can't decide.... I ended up naming my pup Lizzie Louise Lehner, so she goes by Liz, Lou, Loue, pooper, and when she's in trouble, the whole name comes out!
So I think Rhoda Hazel Drury should be it...then she could be Rho or Haze for short!
Even though we never officially picked a middle name for Daisy, when she's in trouble she's usually called Daisy Mae Drury !! Rhoda's middle name could be Dendron.
Well the decision has finally been made. By the end of day two we concluded she is a "Maggie".
She's a sweetie. And she is BIG !! (for a medium goldendoodle puppy) She weighed in at 12 lbs 5 oz at her homecoming.
Daisy was 6 1/2 lbs at the same age.
Thanks for all your comments and words of encouragement.
The EASY part is over---- writing the check and thinking of a name.
Now the work begins....................
Wow-after all of thisyou chose the first name you were considering. Just goes to show you-trust your first instinct. BTW-my vote was for Maggie and she looks like a Maggie. But now you have to choose a second name!!! What about Maggie May?? "Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you" (Rod Stewart)
What she looks like more than Maggie is meringue---like on lemon meringue pie.
I love the mottled look of her fur. Unfortunately most of that beautiful variation in color will be gone in 6 months. She will probably be a very pale cream by the time she's grown.
But we were more focused on temperament and size. We didn't take color into consideration.
I hope she does keep more of her color than Daisy did. Their dad is a white poodle with very strong genes apparently. Daisy started out creamier and is now stark white.
We were thinking they'd end up as Daisy Mae and Maggie May, too.
She does look like a Maggie. It is a great name for her. I do love the variations in her fur. I understand that the reds fade by two, but so far at 15 months, Ned's apricot is still going strong. Maybe you will be lucky too.
