I like to take Max to the different pet stores around town, we usually walk and it's always a good time for him and I. I took him today to the local petvalu which was having a charity event for a local rescue group. I was waiting to have his picture done and he stole a treat! It was only a 45c cookie (and I did pay for it) but he's never done that before, he's sniffed but not taken. My little jailbird doodle. As we were standing in line to pay for the stolen cookie he kept trying to shake paws with the guy behind me who had bully sticks in his hand. What a ham he is. Has your doodle ever stolen from the pet store?
(Also adding the picture we had done.)

Cheryl a mug shot would be cute though.
He say's he's going with the entrapment defense. :)
I guess you always have to keep the eyes on those doodles Deb, he is trained not to take food unless he's been told he can but the temptation overcame him today! Yes to me his look says "I did it, and I'm not ashamed."
Hilarious! And yes, my dog stole the treat. No, I did not pay for it. If they are going to leave treats down on the lowest shelves, they deserve to have many lifted. I see it as a setup and it makes me kind of angry especially the worst, cheap, bad-for-the- dog treat. Hey, they never leave the antlers that low!
My son once took a candy bar off the shelf and took a bite out of it. I was trying to load my groceries onto the counter, keep my other baby comfortable with a bottle, fill out the check.... etc. I said to my two year old, " No, that is not yours", and put it back on the shelf with a piece missing. The clerk's eyes got large and I then replied, " Well if you are going to leave your things out there for two year olds to grab while their mothers are trying to get through the line"
:) Dont mind me I was just a tired mother who was sick of setups in the grocery lines. I never paid for that candy bar either.
LOVE YOUR PHOTO :)
Well, I love this story. Yes I do.
What a funny story, and a beautiful picture.
What a beautiful picture! The last time I took Bodi to the pet store, my son thought he might steal a treat. I told him not to worry we would just pay for it! It is hilarious that Max was trying to get the bully sticks from another customer! LOL
Max, you're the most adorable thief! And yep, Beasley helped herself to a treat from the Old Mother Hubbard bins on her first visit to a store, lol. As I was pulling her away from the bins, the salesperson said they keep them low knowing dogs will do that (at least in that store) and she said "no way" when I offered to pay for it, so that was nice.
Eloise's sniffer goes into overdrive around the bully sticks and antlers, but she's not swiped one yet. However, she has been so bold as to walk behind the front counter when I'm paying, because she knows they always give her a treat from back there.
Maybe it's time to have that talk about chores, allowances and responsibilities or soon he'll be on a street corner with his cardboard sign "Shakes for Treats". ;-)
What an adorable "cookie thief".
Joanne haha I didn' t look at it that way! Here were I live the antlers are close to the floor. I'm always afraid he's going to start chomping on one of those 29$ antlers lol. I agree about the kids though, it's all just so tempting for them, and hey you put it back. :)
Thank you DJ, I got a laugh out of his actions.
Thanks Judy. :)
Doris those doodles are so funny!
Joani it really is true, the pet store is full of entrapment for dogs lol
Julie that's nice that your store realizes dogs will do that. Max does that too, going behind the counter to get his treat! They are so funny.
DonMarie, if he knew he could wear a sign that says shakes for treats and actually get treats out of it he'd do it!
