Do you let your doodles ride with their head out the window? Darwin loves to do this, and he seems to be a lot more antsy when the windows are not down. He is always harnessed in but an still easily reach the window to put his head out. Sometimes I worry that the car will kick a rock up into his face or something, although this has never happened. Do you allow your dog to do this? Do you think it's too risky to be worth it?
Rooney hasn't been in our convertible yet - I think he is too small but I had an experience that was scary. A smoker in another car flipped a cigarette butt out of their window. It flew into my car through my open window, I saw it and put it out but it did burn the carpet, thank God not a child or dog. What are the odds? Slim I'm sure but it was enough to make me think twice about having the windows down. However Darwin you are so cute - I'd let you do it anyway if it makes you happy!
Jane, not to be annoying in this fun discussion but people who smoke and treat the world as their own personal ashtray is my biggest pet peeve and your experience just makes my blood boil - UGH!
Hmmm... It's good to hear I'm not the only one that allows Darwin to do this. I love the photos of Murphy, they remind me of Darwin! Of course, we always roll up the window when we are on the freeway or other quick roads. Maybe I'll look into some doggles.
I bought Gracie some doggles a while ago. I should probably try putting them on again. She has so much hair around her eyes that when I put them on it was like looking through a birds nest. All the hair gathered and was compressed in the goggles!!! Couldn't see a thing! If she would hold still long enough I could probably smooth the hair away as I position them. May give it a try!
I bought Murphy a pair when he was young. He hated them, plus all the hair. They were probably a little small. Maybe if I can find the extra large it might work.
Murphy doesn't get to do this on the highway or interstate. Just cruising around our little town...with his seatbelt on.
He is actually very cautious, makes sure his seatbelt is on...bumps me with his big head if I forget.(Part of being a big wimp, maybe?)
Having the window down is not the same and holds very little interest for him. Never sticks his head out.
I am scared and nervous about this head out of window deal... So, unfortunately, Charlie is no allowed... I only crack it open, small enough so that she CAN NOT get her head through. She doesn't seem to mind it, since she never done it before, she is not miising it, I guess.
Lucy and Sophie say, "What do you mean put our heads out the window, that means we would have to wake up"! The are asleep before we get out of the driveway! Actually, we never ride with the windows down so they have never had the opportunity to consider it.
well...some of you have read my posts about Marley and her slobbering puking mess in the car...unfortunately the ONLY way she can ride in my car is with her head hanging out the window...she does MUCh better this way! the minute she pulls her head in she drools, foams and slobbers then shakes it ALL over the car! I am going to purchase doggles this week to help prevent debris in her eyes...btw...when we take long trips on the highway we just drug her up
I just went and dug out Gracie's goggles, Here she is...I also see a possible "reflection" photo for the Photography Group too. I have seen them in red and pink. I wish I was able to get a good color when I bought Gracies. Probably should have gone on line at the time rather than buy them at the store.
