Georgia does pant heavy quite often. I find it odd. She's young and healthy and quite active.

During the warmer months I thought it was due to heat. But now the weather is cooler and I still see it.

It's cold right now and every time we are driving in the car lately her panting is extreme and worrisome.

I have an appointment with the vet on Monday for something else, but any ideas or other things to consider before meeting with my vet are welcome.

Nancy, sorry that I am late seeing this discussion but I wanted to add that Darwin is very similar. He's not an anxious dog and has a very easy going attitude in new situations, but he does pant heavily in the car and in other random situations. He shows no other signs of anxiety in most of those instances. When we are driving he also drools a lot and we think that he may get physically uncomfortable in the car, but not enough that he gets sick or won't get in one. After 5 years we've surmised that he just pants more when he may be slightly uncomfortable due to heat or movement, or when he's just a bit more excited than usual.

Thanks Camilla and Julie,

I think I can let it go as an issue for now.

She does travel quite well. She sits quietly in one spot in the back seat and looks out the window. She loves it when I crack the window just a bit so her nose can be busy taking in all the scents.
