Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Can someone please help me out and tell me what colouring Lucie Ann is?  I attempted to do some research on it but didn't have any luck.  We were at the dog park this past weekend, and we got a lot of comments from other doodle owners that they have never seen a labradoodle coloured like she is.  Appreciate any help :)

I'm sure someone on here will know, I do not. I just hink she's the color of AWESOME!  So cute!!!
I don't know, but am wondering if this is what they call a Merle coat. Did your breeder have a name for this color??

Laurie, I think you're right.  Here is a picture of Merle colored pups.

Well she was given as a gift from a very good friend for my son as a companion.  Long story short we were promised another puppy and the lady backed out.  So my friend surprised us with Lucie Ann.  He checked with the breeder too, and they weren't sure.  She was the only puppy that was this color the others were all black and white.  She has a black breast with a patch of white below that, otherwise she is this multicolored fluff!
What a nice friend!! I hope someone can help you. All I found was Merle. Lucie Ann is beautiful.
I'm no color expert.... but I think that is brindle.  He's darling! :)

I believe it's called "phantom" or "sable".  What a sweet heart!  Hopefully a breeder on the site will be able to answer your question for you :)

I'd agree with April, I think she's brindle; merles have distinct patterns. Might be sable, but sables have darker "tips" at the ends of each strand of hair. It's hard to tell if that's the case from this photo

Yup.
She is soo adorable! Her face looks almost exactly like our friends wheaton as a pup.  She has the racoon eye thing and everything! Whatever color she is, its great!

I would say she is sable in coloring, because of the multicolored hairs with dark tips. She also seems to show the phantom pattern, with the tan coloring on her legs.

You can see a poodle with this combination of color and pattern here:

Whatever you call her color, I would call her beautiful!

Burnt coffee and cream?? Seriously, it looks like it is too early to tell--she is very young, right? My very red doodle was blonde at first and the blonde grew out and red grew in. My creamy-apricot doodle was red as a youngster and the red grew out except for the ears. And my grey/black/ white pup was all black and white when he was younger and the white is almost all gone and replaced by grey (mix of black and white hairs) so, I would guess that Lucie Ann is going to lose the black as you get her groomed and she will have the red/tan/brown underneath colors which will get lighter as she ages. I agree that it could be called brindle. But anything that includes the black hair may be inaccurate because I think those are going to be gone by one year of age as her adult coat grows in. Take lots of pictures now! Of course, this is just my opinion!

Here are a few pics of my 8 month old pup to show you haw much they can change--

Day 16--lots of white

9 weeks--grey moving in...

5 months after first cut--lots of white cut off!

At right at  7 months--with Dad on the left! His feet are practically black now. So he got darker, but most get lighter.
