Wilson is the love of our lives, he was our first baby. We rescued him about 3 years ago from an animal rescue her in MN. At 2am this morning Wilson started throwing up. I took him to the emergency vet ASAP and they started an IV and gave him pain medication. After a x rays and a couple hours there we transported him to my local vet. They did more x rays and blood work and decided to go in his stomach and see what was going on since the x ray just didnt look right. I got a call from the vet saying Wilsons intesteines are black and not working, they are twisted all over each other and not passing anything through. They are removing 3 feet and hoping that he will make is through surgery. If he does he will need a special diet since he wont be able to digest food well. We thought we would always be prepared for a situation like this, but between the emergency vet, so many tests and now surgery we need help. The link for his donation account is http://www.gofundme.com/aar80o
And we have a t shirt fund going

We even have an auction going for him that will start tomorrow

Sending prayers for Wilson's complete recovery!

I hope you have a smooth recovery,Wilson!!! I'm so glad you ate some turkey!!!

You know, I was just thinking about Wilson and did the vet at all mention that he had Bloat?  It is very common in Poodles.  It is where after they drink or eat and then are active right afterward, the intestine twists and exactly what you describe happens.  It requires immediate surgery.  I used to worry all the time about it and make my DH wait one hour before taking Gracie for a walk or throw the ball.  So sorry to hear about this happening to poor Wilson.  Keeping good thoughts.

In bloat, the stomach twists, not the intestines. :)

Oh thanks Karen.  For some reason I had it mixed up.  It has been a while since I have thought of it or discussed it.

Brittany...so sorry to add another layer to your worries about Wilson.  I gave you the wrong information...or at least part of it.  Still it is good to know about bloat!

Thoughts & prayers for Wilson's recovery.

Thinking of your family and sending good thoughts to Wilson.
